You seemed fairly keen the other week
I was replying to posters who were disappointed with both players (as was I) and saying they should be moved on.
My point was that we are stuck with them because based on their recent form (at that time) no other club would meet their wages - and indeed no other club has shown interest in them.
Since that time , Norwood has shown signs of improvement , Fleck less so.
My point about not wanting to sell any players in whom other clubs are interested doesn't relate to either of them coz I've not seen any such interest reported by the media.
At the time , I was fairly dubious about Hecky being able to get a tune out of either of them - and let's face it , he hasn't recruited Khadra , McAtee & Doyle for no reason.
So yes , I was ambivalent about the prospect of them leaving , whilst knowing that in reality we are stuck with em both.
Hecky has somehow got Norwood to improve quite dramatically + Fleck to a lesser extent ....
Maybe he's had a quiet word with both of them , who knows ?
He spoke yesterday about moving the ball quicker being a major factor in the destruction of Blackburn.
Historically , Norwood's slow build up play & Fleck's obvious lack of pace have not usually contributed to moving the ball quicker.
Maybe they can change ? But if they can't , Hecky now has the loanees to replace them.
I find our slow transition very frustrating and I associate it with Norwood , Fleck & "Wilderball" , in which we tend to ping the ball out to the wings + then fanny about without breaking through.
As has been shown recently , some quicker , more varied play , occasionally though the middle , can be very effective.
If the old guard can be persuaded to change their ways , fine.
But the old guards' habits should not dictate the team tactics to Hecky.
