The thing is CW has plaaced a value on Clarke knowing how valuable he might be to SUFC. That means he should have taken the 'what if' into consideration and will have a ceiling based on those facts. Flitcroft is using inflammatory comments and is really being unprofessional.

In my considered opinion, having really thought this through, Flitcroft can go and fuck himself. He was a twat at the Dingles, and he hasn't changed. Bitter that he'll not get a "big" job perhaps.

I don't see how Flitcroft can say there is something going off behind the scenes there either.

We put in two official bids.

When asked by the press, Knill answered openly and honestly without divulging any details.

Think he should concentrate more on getting a replacement and not disrespecting a fellow club than sounding like he's a roadie for the Happy Monday's.

It's his five mimutes of fame, which he is using to get onside with their couple of dozen fans. When it really comes down to it, he's got no more say on it than me and you. If the board want to sell, they will sell. And their board will want to or the Gas bill doesn't get paid.

Fair point, it's a bit Stick or Twist isn't it? The flaw in my opinion is that, for the sake of an extra £100'000 (for example) he could score the goals that take us up, then one can quite rightly say it's excellent value, and I would have a nice slice of humble pie in my pincers.

The nagging doubt in my mind though, is that if we start going North of, say, £300'000, it's a punt on a player who is over 30, with probably little or no resale value. Further to that, I'd question whether he'd do it in the Championship. If he could, he'd be there already, especially at 31 years old.

I'm more than happy to be proved wrong, I just want us to go up, whoever we sign.

Sorry mate, my lack of clarity at fault. I was speaking in a general sense. Of course each potential signing must be judged on it's own merits - age, potential, what the player's character is like etc - but should Wilder and Knill be happy with these variables then they need backing. I recall Wilder saying that he's acutely aware that it's not his money he's spending, so he therefore acts judiciously when it comes to parting with the owner's money. Whatever the next few months has in store, I hope we'll see a transition in playing style based on our manager's view of what it will take to be in the group aiming for promotion.

No worries :)

I think there will be changes in style, what exactly they will be I guess it's a case of wait and see. I'd say the game has moved to a point where it's not necessarily one sort of style, what happens in a game sometimes can dictate what you have to do to counter it, if you get my meaning.

If CW thinks Clarke is a piece of that puzzle, I'm fine with that. It's his opinion that ultimately matters. I do think that he's the type of striker that can get us where we need to be.

There's much sense in what you say. Take clubs like Stoke for example, for years they represented the uncompromising face of football, you might say their brand of football was ruthless, but I guess their aim was to survive at all costs. Now, with the incredible amounts of money awash in football, Stoke have introduced a better quality of player that they can afford. In Premiership terms £10 million doesn't seem to get you much, but if you look around it's possible to find a Cabaye or Shaqiri for close to that figure. I know I'm jumping the gun and that we first have to earn promotion to the Championship, but I'm hoping that by the time we're in the promotion race for the Premiership (I can dream?) Wilder and Knill will have established themselves as a management team of worth and we'll have seen a turnover of players of increasingly better quality that put the bad old days of Division 1 in the shade.

That would be my hope too. My fear though, at the moment, is that the money at or near the top, is increasing the gulf between them and the rest of the league. So we do need to start progressing soon as I can only see that gap getting bigger, and old Princey will have to shift a few bog rolls to make up the difference ;)

Clarke sounds like a formality despite the long drawn out process over negotiations with Bury.

Still waiting for Newcastle to table an official bid for Che. Brum may up it. Wilder happy to cash in on Adams, unimpressed by his attitude and work rate.

Do you know if we're looking at just straight up cash for Adams or could player exchanges be involved too? Heard anything about the Morsy rumour?

What do you mean by formality?

Brum would involve cash + a player coming to us on a permanent but don't know the identity. Newcastle, hard to say until bid is official. People have speculated on Toney but given that the Clarke deal looks to be going through I'd be surprised if it's not a straight cash deal if they put their money where there mouth is. I haven't heard anything with regards to Morsy but a number of decently connected people have.

Is
The deal will be wrapped up this week and Clarke will officially sign. United are very confident of landing him despite the bluster from Flitcroft who ultimately can't stop Bury from selling.
iz that what you've been told?

Why are on earth did you need to post 3 times there max? You could have put them all in the same post!

Then you have heard something...

Wouldn't surprise me.
I've also received that info so could be correct although when he is sold some fans will be straight onto slating the club but the decision will be wilders . He will strengthen the team with the money let's just hope the board let him have a good slice of it .
