Since our bid for Clarke has been branded "comical", who else could fill the big man role that we've been crying out for? Paying close to a million for a pensioner seems irresponsible, would be happier if we spent that kind of money on a hungry young player.

Put DCL in the team and pretend we paid a million for him. Bit of kidology .

Uche Ikpeazu? Gave us a torrid time for Port Vale last season and looked decent enough for Blackpool too, and even gave Harry a rough ride a few seasons ago at Crewe.

Just been released by Watford I think, maybe not a starter every week but he's definitely the sort of option you need on the bench when Plan A isn't working.

I've seen Toney mentioned too at Newcastle, must say I've not seen much of him but from what I've read/heard he seems to have all the attributes we're looking for, plus he scored plenty at Northampton (possibly under Wilder?)

There are plenty of second rate ex pigs knocking round the lower leagues
What's tudgay up to these days ?

Clark
Clarkey
Clarky
Clarkster
Ad hording guy
Old red toes
Clarkington

a few alternatives for you to chew on there.

Akinde is a good shout, others to look at are Craig Davies if Wigan decide he's not good enough for the championship and Wilbraham at Bristol City who have been linked with lots of other players.

Building a property emporium portfolio in Derbyshire.
Fuckin' amazed at how many B/C rated players are millionaires.
If a L1 is on £5k a week that's £250k a year gross.
And why wouldn't they be on that? To be a professional footballer these days you have to make sacrifices in your youth, work hard and if you're one of the few that actually succeed, you will generate income for your employers.
Isn't that, and supply and demand, how wages are evaluated in a capitalist economy?

That monster upfront for Halifax Town on Tuesday night...Denton I think his name was...won every header and was a handful until he was subbed

Scholl aren't bad I suppose, and you can't beat a nice pair of hush puppies...

It won't take nowhere near a million to bring Clarke to BDTBL.

All that's happened here is that we have taken the piss and tried to exploit Bury's current financial situation. They need to offload a couple more of the big earners in order to balance the books and whilst Tom Pope is on the market, nobody wants him therefore it will get to the point where they will come back to us with a lower amount.

If we are shrewd this could still be very much live and a great buy for us. At Clarke's 1:2 to our current strikeforce and you won't find much better up top in the league next year.....That said we do need to get it right as well because of his age however I would push to a 2 year deal in order to secure the players services because if we did get promoted he could still play a part from the bench.

Tranmere have apparently released a big lad who was scoring for fun in The Dutch League a couple of years back.

Statistically he came very highly recommended. Which shows statistics don't take much notice of weight gain and legs going...

Rob Hulse?
Jostein Flo?
Darius Henderson?
Neil Shipperly?
