The worst set of fans I have came across. You would think with City having traditionally been a team that languished in the lower echelons of the league they would have a bit more respect towards of us blades but clearly not. The premier league has well and truly gone to their head. Liverpool and man united have the history to back up being cocky... city fans should remember they were nothing without that Arab money.

Opposite for me, having drinks with them pre/after game and they're all sound, very complimentary towards us.

Think being twats while the game is on is very excuseable tbh, just look at ours half the time.

I don’t think they were quiet but chants like “where were you when you were shit” come on now from a city fan?? I had the pleasure of sharing the train home to Manchester full of them and I overhead this lad saying he had 5 season tickets for city that he sells to foreigners that want to come watch city for profit. A very strange club all round and it reminds me of why I love the blades so much. We are proper not plastic.

Used to love playing them, it was always a cracking atmosphere and I felt that we had a kindred spirit with them due to the billy big bollocks of Man Utd and the pigs.
Remember the 4-2 win under DB when lake scored and it was an amazing game and fantastic day. There filled the upper and lower BL stands and supported their team. I imagine true city fans actually miss that hence their apathy for the CL.

I think it depends on your age, ok City have had their rough times but when I started watching football and for some time after, they were a very good football club and very successful with a large fan base. I always regard them as a big club with big support.

They always used to bring loads and make shit loads of noise. I understand that a game away at Sheffield United isn't one for them to get excited about but I do wonder whether they miss the old days.

That disgusting event was the work of a certain Rodney Marsh who compounded it by taunting the Kop , pointing to the boot with which he deliberately did it - the most shameful behaviour I have ever seen on a football pitch .

It's not in my nature to wish ill on others , but I'm prepared to make an exception in respect of that cunt .

Every club would have fans who get above their station after success. We'd be no different.

Before the game at their place we were drinking in the Northern Quarter and a group of City came over chatting and couldnt have been friendlier. Sent us some of their food over and then asked we wanted to walk to the ground with them. Of an age that remembers the pre-Arab City.

They now attract a lot of foreign fans in their new shirts constantly taking photos and selfies. Must be quite demoralising to be an old hardcore city fan to have a different person sat next to you every week who hasn't got a clue who any of the players are or any songs.

Then you have the new fans, including those with money who have either known nothing but success or are actually there because if it and wouldn't have been seen dead at Maine Road. I bet European nights in the posh seats are quite an experience that attract a certain section of society.

I was laughing (ironically) at some of their chants as I didn't expect it from a club with the history of Man City.

The ones that got me were:

• Where we you when you were shit?
  • (we sing it back), followed by Beating you when you were shit
• There's only 1 Carlos Tevez ... Really?!?
• Then the most tinpot of tinpot chants in the entire world of football - "Shit" after each chant of "United". That chant reminds me of League 1. I bet the still sing "You're shit aaah" for Goalkicks too

Anyway, moving on...

As others have mentioned, their fan base now is probably made up with a good proportion who have only know them as Man City mkII. The Thai's bought them 13 years ago and sold to the Arabs 12 years ago. 18 year olds can't remember a time before this.

God yes.
One of my favourite grounds to visit was Maine Road. A bit odd for the fact the "kop" was actually the Kippax and was on the side of the ground. Proper battleground on many occasions. Rowdy and raucous both home and away.

As an aside, when I was a teenager in the 70's, was sat in a pub close to the ground with my dad and an old local geezer was reminiscing that (sometime in the 20's) he had been to the first match ever at Maine Road and we were the visitors.
