Good - it's about time we showed some fucking bottle in the transfer market.

And by that, I mean at least 21 years - see Deane, Fjortoft and Borbokis.

O'CONNELL SOLD

Sheffield United Centre Back Jack O'Connell made a shock move to the South Coast this evening as Premier League shitheads Brighton (and not Hove as well) Albion closed the deal which sees the United favourite sign a three year deal. Manager Chris Wilder was unavailable for comment later but was heard screaming into a pillow in his office whilst outside in the car park, Alan Knill offered, "There was nothing we could do, really. If the player wants to go, that's about it."

One Brighton fan on Twitter offered, "What a shower of wankers. First Murphy, then Brooks comes to the South Coast and now O'Connell."

When pressed about the fee, Knill was less revealling. "Mr McCabe has made his own arrangements with Brighton. I will say that we have our eyes on a replacement. Fortunately Eddie Colqhuoun's boots are still with the club and he's coming in for a chat tomorrow."

Welcome to the "club killing McCabe patsy will put up with owt giving our players away for nowt weers munneh gone" club.
Not a clue what you're on about? Certainly wouldn't blame McCabe or anyone if we sold him, £8-10m is a lot of money.....look at that other team across the city and you see an owner showing how not to run a football club.

Well the lad's head had been turned and anyway, the next installment on the Desso was due.....

Just listened to wilder’s interview with statton whilst at work.
You’ve just got to love the man as he tells it how it is.
Really looking forward to Saturday now. COYRAWW

Breaking:Big dog Albion frightened away from neighbours food, by snarling Yorkshire terrier Wilder.
Meanwhile, lets cut back to live scenes of Japanese international Y. Mi and French international M. Bargo arriving in next doors' pig sty.

The usual procedure is that Wilder will speak to JOC and see if he wants to go. If he’s says he’s not that bothered, CW can say he’s not for sale. If JOC does want to go CW names his price and it’s up to Brighton to meet it. Whether we’re prepared to negotiate will depend on how desperate JOC is to go, e.g. if he hands a transfer request in, like Moore has at Reading.

Hughton may be better off accepting that we’ve brought in decent money this season, we don’t need to sell so we’re not going to roll over and let them pick up a bargain.

The difference between Brooks and O’Connell is that JOC is an established first team player, on reasonable money with commitments up north. He doesn’t need to chase the money as much as he’ll have already earnt a fair bit with a promotion bonus, signing fee for new contract etc. He can be a bit more relaxed about it and bide his time a bit (and will probably get another new contract and signing fee from us). He’s not going to be first choice at Brighton and he’s too old to be a ‘developing’ player.

So I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s not that bothered about the move and happy to stay with us for this season.

There’s sense in that but in Jack’s position I’d be keen to go. Millions of pounds in my pocket and a chance to progress that may never come again.

I think they’re looking for someone on the cheap. Probably only offering around £30k a week. I can’t see him being anything but back up. If I were him I’d take the chance that I have another good season and someone comes in for me that wants me as a first team option. Or we go up. Especially if my girlfriend was saying ‘no way I’m moving to Brighton’.

Difficult one as if we get a silly offer regardless of our current position he would go....IMO John Egan is one of the best in the league (my opinion prior to him joining us) and he 'only' cost £4m - If an offer for JOC came in at £8-10m thats one heck of a transfer fee and I'm sure we could replace for cheaper.

Hope we keep him though as I fear selling him now wouldn't give us enough time to scout for the right player and replace like for like.

I'm not sure you can replace o'connell , I don't see a like for like player out there, not doubting we could sign a damn good centre back or left winger for the same money , but JOC is both rolled into one and I can't think of anyone else who could give us what he does

The question of JOC leaving the club seems to ignore the reason why Egan was bought - to act as partner alongside JOC, and whoever else Wilder considers appropriate for the centre of defence. Wilder is building something, and to weaken our defence defeats the purpose of what he and Knill are building. Our defensive cover seems far better (I say that before the season is well under way, so excuse me if I overestimate) than we had at the end of last season. We're still up front short but I'll trust Wilder's judgement. Like every other position, he's been patient and waited until the right man is available. I'd rather we go with what we have than waste decent money on someone who is incapable of improving our chances of scoring.

Currently we look strong in most departments, so we begin in a couple of days with a positive frame of mind. Here's to the Blades improving on last season, UTMB!

Well done Chris Wilder telling Brighton to phuck off with their £8m. Mind you there is still a week left for McCabe to ring Brighton to accept their first offer of £2m he does that when the big dogs cme sniffing round our centre backs you know. Keep out of the sun Jack ;)

Chris wilder is my favourite ever blades manager to listen to when interviewed.

I think, in fact, as I say that, he may be my favourite ever blades manager.

So hope he can do the business so he can rank up there with our modern greats, and turn my maybe into a definitely...

Even if this is the opening gambit in the sale of the player, then at least we are finally putting the onus on opposition teams to get thier hands in their pockets properly.... and not “giving away” premier league and England stars anymore.

Whoever has control of the transfer policy nowadays is doing a sterling job, I have always said it’s ok to sell but get the right money like everybody else seems to do.. I’m impressed this week, and if joc goes, we can all relax as it will be well north of 8million and a decent sell on clause..

Are we finally “no mugs” ?

I cant blame the lad if he goes its his living at the end of the day , the problem we have got is if we vastly improve his wage to try to keep him then every one whos any good in the team wants a pay rise and the wage bill spirals out of control , if we manage to keep him it will be a massive coup , and would show that mean real intent this season , and the MAIN reason we should keep him is we can still sing the Magic hat song !!:D

I was gutted after the Brooks sale and thought "same old United"

Have to say I've been very impressed with everything the club has done since, I'm not used to us getting targets we are linked with (Likes of woodburn) and I'm definitely not use to us telling clubs to fuck off he's not for sale!!

And a partner that plays for Man United?

Maybe they could split the distance and live in Luton ;)

TBH this must be the first player we have told a club to fuck off too ! We always sell , it would be amazing if we keep magic Jack !
