We’ve got to gamble! No promotion means no more parachute payments and we’re back into the midtable pack.

We need someone that can get us up, not midtable then reset.! I fail to see how we can’t at least get someone that competent enough to get this squad to stay up! I reckon I could do that! So in that respect I don’t see that we’re gambling with relegation.
Wind yer neck in Wilders coming back and all that will happen.

No manager is getting us automatic from this position

COH need to:
  • Appoint wilder
  • Admit they were wrong
  • Admit they tried to change too much at once
  • Appoint a DOF
  • Set out a clear plan of how the manager, DOF and recruitment will work together (whoever are in those roles in years to come)
Easy.
Highlighted in bold are the reasons it won’t happen.

You have hit the nail on the head mate. I am a huge wilder fan, didn’t think he should have been sacked but agree despite the points total last season, we were fairly tough to watch at times and accepted that a change may have done us good.

The vast majority of blades I speak to are wilder fans with similar opinions. I completely understand those not in favour of him but the hate spouted is utterly bizarre in context with his overall reign and not indicative of the majority of fans in my opinion.

Not sure this forum is an accurate cross section of overall support. It’s a bit like trip advisor where only polar opposite opinions are posted and generally on here by the same people like you alluded to.

I’m not convinced that he is the right man to replace selles, however I am confident that we would finish at least mid table if he can back.

He would need to eat some humble pie and admit he got a lot wrong to be accepted by some fans as I fear a couple of bad results could lead to toxicity.

Asked of others but no reply so l’ll ask you, other than some totally unnecessary insults by less than a handful on here, can you post some of the “hate” posts on the forum. Preferably sticking with the actual definition of the word? The number of times that claim is made it should be an easy exercise.

It’s doing more heavy lifting than “woke”.

If he does come back, it has to be on some terms which facilitate succession planning.

DoF, a group of people involved and with some degree of influence on decisions and recruitment from identification through to signing.

He can drive that process if he wants but he has to properly build a version of SUFC which doesn't involve him in the dugout. A version that, one day, maybe does see him retire into a role in the boardroom and hand the reigns over. Become what Derek Dooley was, in a modern fashion.

My concern if RS goes is, who will be left in charge. Aren't all Selles coaching staff the same ilk as him ie, not played professionally. No doubt a replacement would be carried out at United's usual snail pace and we will be left with someone like Del boy in charge temporarily (no offence Del ), though at this particular time.........

a manager who can take us to the next level is it?

Maybe Wilder took us to our peak level.

Maybe being a top six club in the PL is not our destiny, after all there is only room for six clubs there.

The problem with life, is that there are dreams and then there is reality.

I mentioned the managerial merry go round in the summer and fear we may be there. It will take a huge push to regain the Uniting of the club once more.

The absolute state of some of the utter tits on this thread and this forum:
"Yes, I know we can't buy a goal or a point, much less a win, and we're mired in the dreck at the foot of the table hurtling relentlessly towards League One, having just had our arses handed to us 5-0 by a team that hadn't had a home win since 2024 until we rolled into town, but I'm still going to sit here and spout utter bollocks about how we're somehow better off in this appalling state, than we were with a proven, successful manager, who had us challenging for promotion."

No, no we're not. We're not remotely better off with this absolute shambles, than we were when we were a competent, functioning football club.

The whole point of football is to win.

To succeed.

To progress.

To move up as far as you can.

Not to lose, fail, regress, and plummet as far as you can, as fast as you can.

Normal football fans understand this basic concept.

But not some sections of our fanbase, oh no.

The only fanbase on the planet, in which significant numbers would apparently rather be losing than winning, would rather be plummeting down the table instead of climbing up it, would rather be in a relegation scrap than a promotion race, as long as the bloke in charge hasn't committed the heinous crime of thumping his badge.

There's no wonder we're in the state we are on the pitch, when we've got so many people in our fanbase refusing to recognise, much less criticise, the self-inflicted cause of our decline and fall.
Great how you negated cw drunken antics at another pro manager or demonstrating with opposition players when the pillock lost win or lose we need to be , seem , look ultra professional at all times not missed in a pub and giving the club a bad name cw good manager but a complete opposite of what the job demands professionally

Danny Hall running away with himself after getting a snippet of info. It is highly unlikely COH are considering CW as a Technical Director. He just doesn't have the skills for this imo. Said on DB's thread a Technical Director needs to come in first with the remit to appoint the new manager/head coach. The club need to get it right whilst overhauling the failing off field structure. We all have bad memories of David Weirs time here as a Manager. Yet yesterday he left his role as Technical Director of Brighton a forward thinking EPL club after 3 years. COH should be on the phone to him now. Its about getting an experienced football man in at Director level. This will stop the recruitment mess, stabilise sports science and medical injuries management and overhaul the coaching side.

Then when in place a replacement for RS can come in. If its CW then so be it but it has to be on the basis he will work with a Technical Director/DOF. Something he has railed against previously. I personally think its a backward step re appointing CW as it smacks of desperation on COH's part. I can understand the approach as they will be paying him shed loads in compensation so may want to mitigate costs.

It can work if CW buys into it. Thats a big if. That requires him to relinquish his fingers in every pie where he parachuted his mates into roles. Also to accept the TD is responsible for all of the above areas. Having a football man alongside him may prevent a repeat of the off field antics that led to his dismissal. It may work and be the making of CW having a reduced workload concentrating on the coaching side. He would need to overhaul his team as it had gone stale. Knill and Prestridge may need replacing. Will it work Who knows? anything presently is better than the mess we are currently in.

If he would accept, which is doubtful, I would be happy to bring him in as an immediate caretaker manager for 3 months to save the season. And then work on succession planning, with a potential contract to the end of the season should he have dragged us into a potential playoff place contention.
Stricter guidelines on his behaviour, no more Plymouth's or dancing on tables etc...
I am sure, as a fan, he is hurting as much as we are. Appeal to his Bladeyness, honour to the club and ask him to be our short term saviour. I hope he would accept......

Thank you for the offer but it’s not my job to trawl this site to exhibit instances for you. I have much better things to do.

You are a regular contributor so I’m more than confident you will either have seen them, or can find them yourself.

It’s not about being ‘woke’ or unnecessarily sensitive. Some things posted are bang out of order, but that’s the nature with society and the faceless ability of social media users.

I accept some fans are critical and don’t like him. It wouldn’t be normal for everyone to have the same views all the time.

No offer. Just asking if you could back your claim up. Like all the others, you’re “too busy and have better things to do”. But not to busy to make the claim again and again, fooling no one. Lazy way of trying to negate people’s opinions.

lol .. no chance.

You have Wilder then he runs the whole operation from top to bottom..

Rob Staton, matt Barlow of the daily Mail both saying there's truth to it

I don’t try to negate anyone’s opinions and it’s certainly not lazy, not presenting them all for you to read simply because you stamp your feet.

If people choose to post derogatory stuff about a manager who whilst having many faults, dragged us out of the third division doldrums and up to the top end of the premier league then good luck to them.

Does previous success give him a free pass forever? Absolutely not, but in my opinion, don’t think it warrants some of the shit that gets said about him.

You post regularly on here, I have absolutely no doubt that you will have read much of it. If you agree, then fair enough. You are most welcome to your opinion.

You clearly aren’t as busy as you claim are you?

Hate turns to derogatory now? And shit? Yes, there have been derogatory comments, some totally unnecessary. The point was the “hate” claims as if it was rife.

Stamp my feet? 😀 Dear me, you’re quite big on exaggeration……

the board took a punt on selles and its totally backfired the guy's a clown and got zero idea on tactics.or team selections i cant believe he wasnt sacked by 10pm last night
He has though really hasn't he ?
Effectively
Just because they haven't announced it or maybe even told him yet but he's gone isn't he. ?
So what is the point being angry about it when a few seconds of logical thought negate your entire post

Ok pal. You clearly don’t have much else to do other than pick apart people’s posts like some forum pedant.

As I said earlier, you are a regular poster on here so I have no doubt that you will have read much of the shit, derogatory and hate filled posts so I really don’t feel the need to find examples to exhibit for you.

If you don’t believe me, fine. Don’t. I really don’t mind.

As much as Wilder suits us as a club, we cannot just keep going back to him every time we get in trouble otherwise we'll never go forwards as a club.

Why not try repeating the trick we had with him in 2016, by going out and trying to find the next Chris Wilder.

We weren’t in trouble before he was sacked.
