Yes never, let's not give this this club any hope, again. Because it's old fashioned
Said it before….if we don’t go up this season - I expect COH to be looking for an exit by 2027 & if they are paying Prince A stage payments - it’s not impossible he could be back (maybe with a partner). So at that point with virtually no budget - Wilder would be the ideal manager by 2028!

This is so so so crazy I can believe it’s true but given owners nieve and poor decisions, from someone who was close to club once……

Wilder is coming back as DoF 🤣

I wouldn’t believe it if it wasn’t so outlandish and from a less credible source.

Wilder got pelters by some for not having a pretty enough style of play, and rightly so at times. We now look even worse with the ball, and don't have any of the positive stuff - organisation, work rate, defensive qualities, nullifying other team's threats (you know, tactics).

I know it won't happen but it actually seems like common sense to bring him back now. A section of our fans won't like it but I don't trust the board to choose a new manager, and if we stick with Selles there's a genuine fear we could be in a relegation battle. We cannot let that happen.

Correct the obvious mistake, put the structure in place at the club and get a Director of Football, and then move away from Wilder if you still don't think he's the right man to take us forward.

The ‘should be credible’ ITKer I mentioned earlier recons Sellés get 1 more game then it’s O’Neil or Rohl. If true it’s going to be a painful 2 weeks then a painful 2 seasons. Why can’t yanks see if he looks like a duck, quacks like a duck he’s a feckin duck. How to destroy 127 years of history in less than a year 🇺🇸
I’ve got my rock stash ready and I know who he is!

Why is your source so credible? Don’t have to name names or titles.

Was close to board under McCabe but not for many years but claims to hear things. Doesn’t make him credible.
Think it’s well known I’m no fan of anyone so called ITK, as we’ve seen with COH nowt really leaks out apart from player info (usually agents) let alone who will replace Sellés.
People might think they are ITK and repeat things but it’s only the decision makers that know what happening or likely to happen. Even Jumble Bumble admits he’s not ITK but allegedly makes money out of being ITK.
My hope is he’s gone by Tuesday and I can revel in yet another ITKer falling flat on their face.

The board spectacularly fucked up Wilders sacking. As much as I would love to see him back, at this time I don’t think it’s right. The football was pretty bad at times last season (granted we won more often than not).

I can’t see a large section of the fan base accepting his return and a couple of defeats will see people calling for his head again.

I believe you - i think we will appoint Danny Rohl to calm things down a bit

Does anyone know if Wilder is still officially an employee of the club.
Maybe he’s being paid his monthly salary as per his contract but just asked to go on gardening leave.

If this is the case…..then can’t we simply ask CW to return to perform his duties as per his contract?

lots of both to be fair
I get why people were disgruntled last season. We never seemed to go for the jugular like Leeds and were content to win by the odd goal. That was on Wilder and it eventually bit him on the arse at Wembley. Personally despite that I thought he was worth another year OR go for another experienced manager like Cooper. Selles appointment was truly baffling though it’s a toss up who have been the most inept, Selles or the board?

Most likely a settlement agreement which may include notice period and or other contractual elements. Essentially no he’s not likely to actually employed by us.

They'd never ask him because of the embarrassment having got rid....they must be shitting emselves now they appointed hose A.....
. maybe hose B.. is available..

Time will tell i guess - at the moment its too early to fully objectively judge - imo .....Wasn't Sir Alex 1 game away from the sack when Robbins scored the winner v Forest - sliding doors and all that .

There are many examples of very poor starts that have turned spectacularly and surprisingly around - Basham being just one ...however, there are also many examples of poor starts being caused by poor appointments .

I hope the former is the case , but as i said , time will tell .

You can understand people wanting him though as they cant let go .

I want my hair and boyish David Cassidy good looks back, but that's never going to happen either .
Some fans don't want Wilder back, and some of their reasons given make sense. But that doesn't mean it's impossible.

He's old-school, he's a fan and sometimes he likes a drink. To some, this is unprofessional. And he'll be the first to admit that some of the football we played last season was not great to watch. But the main reasons given make no sense at all. They are just tired cliches that mean nothing.

"We should be looking forwards, not backwards"

Of course we should be looking forwards. But this is basically implying that if you leave a job you should never in your life return to it. Or if you end a partnership, you should never revive it, regardless of the merits of doing so.

He's a dinosaur whose tactics have been found out.

92 points and 30 wins (inc playoffs) last season suggests that is false - he is still a very good manager who is able to get results.

Turgid footbal, no plan B.

Some truth in the football being poor to watch last season. But Wilder showed again and again that he can adapt tactics to the opposition and make tactical changes during games. Saying that he had 'no plan B' is clearly not true.

Too old, he's had his time. We need someone new. Someone younger and dynamic with fresh ideas.

How old is he, 58 or 59? In most other professions that's the age when you reach your peak. Many highly successful managers are older than CW.

To claim that someone healthy in their 50s shouldn't be given a job because of their age is like saying that someone shouldn't be given a job due to their skin colour.

He's local. We need to get rid of our small town mindset and stop employing people from Sheffield and South Yorkshire. We need an international outlook.

For some reason Sheffielders love to put their city down. Things are always better elsewhere. If a manager is from Sheffield - if he speaks like us and enjoys the same things as us - then he can't be any good. Clearly bollocks given the amazing talent that has come out of our city.

I get that some don't want him back but I think a large part of this is emotional, part of society's obsession with having new things. In the 90's Tony Blair re-branded Labour as NEW Labour and won by a landslide. It's the oldest psychological trick in the book when it comes to selling sometbing. People always want NEW, not old. Last year's model is no longer fashionable. NEW is exciting and better - regardless of whether it's an upgrade or not.
