I don't know who else would have been available and have a proven track record at Championship level but I do know that Wilder ticks those boxes.

I expect he will get the message across to the players that what matters isn't what has taken place over the last 6 clown car performances, but their attitude and commitment from now on in.

He'll very definitely set out in straightforward terms what their role is on the pitch, how it fits into the formation and what is expected of them.

We started last season with a two point deduction, which was tough, but now just to make it a proper challenge for Wilder we're giving the job back to him with 15 points dropped.
True although last season we could have had -21 and still got into the playoffs in 6th. Personally I think it will take some discussions as to whether they see this as a stick to the 2 1/2 years left that they had confidence in him when he signed the contract extension or are they looking for him to be caretaker till January/end of season to settle the side down whilst they evaluate their position. I agree he has a good record at EFL record. The dilemma is do the owners go with a long term "Wilder plan" in the sense regardless of what happens they keep him in post or do they go searching for the next name available, it sounds like they have had discussions already which is a positive and proactive approach.

At the moment I'm that pissed off with our start I've not come to any decision about any particular candidate , but all you wilderists out there ( no disrespect but I'm not excited about anything) Cannon will be playing regularly ? as from the allegations we've all read on here he was a Chrissy signing and could end up as this season's JLT 🤔🤔
Don't go then pal, bye

Who’s Lucie Manette, Wilder? Alan Biggs as Sydney Carton, the alcoholic who’s in love with them.

Wilder would be Darney, the hero, Lucy Manette would be nopigfansintown who loves him dearly.
Silky Sabella would be Madame Defarge, sat knitting by the guillotine hoping and praying CW ends up on it.

“My sources tell me It's a far, far better thing I do than I have ever done. It's a far, far better rest I go to than I have ever known.See my latest column"

I know others wont agree but i am impressed that the owners were big enough to admit they were wrong and aproach CW
I think it's a fair point.

I was 50/50 in the summer, happy for CW to stay, not as upset as many that he went (I'd sort of expected him leaving - just gut feeling). Wasn't particularly confident about Selles but happy to give him a chance. Irrespective of it being a disaster, I didn't see the point or value of the whingeing and doom gloom over the summer. It doesn't change anything.

I want to see us become a more modern club with a different approach at some point but the foundations need to be laid first imho.

The situation we find ourselves in means that an experienced Champ manager is the safest way forward and someone who can walk straight in and get to work without needing to bed in, is the best bet.

I'm not convinced a lot of owners would have done this.

Bournemouth when Eddie Howe saved them from league 2 relegation with a -17 point penalty then took them to promotion left went to Burnley - he was terrible - Bournemouth fell apart - back he went and had them in the PL within 3 years staying there for 5/6 years
Arsenal after Wenger left, Man U after Fergie left, West Ham after Moyes left.*

I'm aware some of these can be classed as old fashioned at the times they occurred, they're just what came to mind.

I don’t get why everyone thinks we’re going be in a relegation battle the squad is alright it’s better than a lot of the championship and we’re only five games in we’ve got a better balanced squad than last year minus a big striker
We are conceding goals , not scoring , we are bottom of the league with 0 points and -11 GD.

Wilder is inheriting a squad that has many players he didn’t sign … it’s gonna be a slog

Not sure any would tbh, it's going to be pretty much unprecedented in football isn't it? Within the timeframe involved at least?
I just can't wait to see his first interview. Even if he doesn't mean to be, there is very little he can do or say that won't make him sound a bit smug.

bizarre situation.
