Why is he still our chairman?

The original post said Why is this fat f*ck our chairman? In the light of day a little harsh and it seems to have upset a few people.

Is there any reason you need to abuse the bloke?

Chris Steer is in place to act as a representative of the club and board, one of the reasons Kevin McCabe chose him is that he's available and around to fulfil all the local obligations and everyday tasks a "chairman" would, whilst KMc is out of the country.

Chris is definately a blade, is local and travels everywhere.

He may not be your ideal chairman, but I'm not entirely sure what he's done wrong to deserve abuse?

How long has he been chairman?

My point is he was at the helm when we went down. Doesn't the chairman approve signings etc? Doesn't some of the blame lay at his door?

He's chairman of the football club, not the Parent Company. He's a local businessman of limited means, a real Blade and a nice guy. He has a role as a local figurehead. He's readily available in the UK to represent the club at all sorts of meetings. The man who owns the club, still holds all the power, and makes all the important decisions, lives in Brussels.

You wouldn't want to argue with them over the price of lino, would you...?

Jimmy, this is probably the worst attempt at starting a thread i've ever seen. It might be ok on BM, but not on here. Maybe if you'd started a thread asking why Chris Steer remains our chairman after he was at the helm while Micky Adams was manager, you might get a bit of a better response

I've only had cause to meet him a couple of times, seems a nice bloke. He has an impossible task though in his role as Chairman, given it is a title without any real power.

I'm happy with the response I received. Your right I could have worded my question a little better. I will take your comments on board and think longer before I open my mouth next time.

Ha ha is that a hair piece on the far right?

Seems a good choice - any difficult issues arise he has a huge choice of carpets to sweep them under.

And the lads were all fired up after a night on the tiles

I'm sure he's a great bloke, but he doesn't exactly present a good image does he? Regardless of his weight, in every picture of him I've ever seen, his tie is in a right mess. The man seriously needs to invest in a tie clip.

A jacket which fitted would also be a good move. Just because you've got the dimensions of a small house doesn't mean you need a jacket big enough for a large house.

To be fair to him, bespoke suits that fit a bloke of his unusual dimensions aren't cheap!

A couple of sizes smaller would have been fine; his sleeves are way too long. And one would hazard a guess that he could find the £1,000 - £2,000 by foregoing some other vices for a bit...

So we need a chairman who is thin and has great dress sense. Are 2 legs a requirement also ? Criminal record ? Big Wallet ? Fucking hell I thought finding a manager was tough.

Nothing wrong with dreaming and being aspirational is there?

I'm thin (Reasonably anyway ;)) and have a suit that fits me. Not that hard at all really.

To be fair to KM, if you're gonna employ a human shield....

You made my point before me Raul! However, I was distraught when I first heard of the appointment, I thought we'd got that knobhead scottish doctor off ITV breakfast telly, but that's Chris Steele

He's not a True Blade though. He has a pig rug up in the front of his shop window bringing shame on the good people of Woodseats.

He used to have a United one up as well but that vanished at around the time he got appointed. He's part of the plot to merge us.

I once walked past this particular portly gentleman as he got out of his on a matchday, he must of spent a good 5 minutes trying to tuck his Tent/Shirt into the back of his very baggy Trousers.

I said at the time that if presentation and impressions mean anything in business then we're truly fucked with that giant melted marshmellow at the helm.

John Ryan would look like that if it wasn't for the day job.
Anyway he's chairman not inside left ,so whats it matter.
