Sign him and loan him to Swindon seems to cover our bases
 
One for the future if he signs, looks a long way off a starting place from the 2 halves I've seen and would be a strange signing in a position where we need quality over quantity.
 
Can we afford to sign players “for the future” before we secure our much-needed quality LCB for our starting eleven in the PL - behind whom Robbo will be on the bench & RND will be in our specialist hamstring room ?

The only time I remember him doing it well was at Preston (in 2004 I think?)

Seem to think we scored very early then Jags got sent off. Warnock moved Wright to centre half and he and Morgan stood up to an aerial barrage and we hung on to win 1-0. Lots of cheers every time Wright beat Cresswell in the air!
 
At a guess the lad probably has talent and is being held back by the mental side of the game. Gut reaction for me is that he may have had hunger issues for us unless given an early enough prominent role in the team. Development at Palace won't be too much different to ours. He probably prefers the south and will probably earn a bit more money as a development player there.

Wilkinson explains Francis absence from Terras' squad

BOBBY Wilkinson revealed Bournemouth loanee Chris Francis has been left out of the squad in recent games to renew his hunger for a starting place.

I can see both sides of the coin for this - it would have been good to have him but it's also not a massive loss.

He looked a talent, and would have potentially provided a youngster to push whoever we get in at LCB, however there was little to no chance of him getting into that position week in week out for the first team. If he feels he's going to get that chance at Palace (which I am unsure of - know they like to play young defenders that develop well but most aren't developed from the academy, they sign them), then it's the right move for him. Better he goes and gets that opportunity than sitting on the bench or in the academy unhappy and it ending up like Lopata

I would guess he's even less chance breaking in there, but with him being a southerner that may be a factor, although he's from the South-West so London isn't exactly close either! Shame. but if we really wanted him we should have offered him a contract from the off, maybe we have by now but seems Palace will win the race. Will be interesting to see how he does in his career.
 

Cannot have so many development LCB.

Pleased what I’ve seen with Freckleton, so he’s got that spot.

It’s a starter we need and it doesn’t seem that was going to be him.
 
He has probably been told that Freckleton is ahead of him

Is Gomis on trial somewhere? Expect him to leave, but haven't seen him mentioned anywhere.

He’s still in contract but nowhere near the first team is he?

You’d expect him to be loaned and leave or perhaps just leave.

Been around a while and doesn’t look like breaking through.

He didn’t make much impact at Beerschot either.
 
Well that's good of him to tell PH and the rest of the management team that we wanted to sign him.

Last I heard PH was talking about having a chat with him and with the rest of the management to see what everyones thoughts were.

I expect CP came in with an offer and we were non too bothered if we wasnt totally sure after 2 weeks.
 
Fair enough, i'll watch him progressing but with all young ones WHOs to make and WHOs to brake is never easy to tell.
