well thats weird. just been had ago at by paddy kenny on social media as he got wrong end of the stick. i was slagging off blackwell. saying how paddy got stabbed in the back by blackwell in private & then blackwell played victim in public

& he's read wrong way. thought i was having ago at him

Decided not to go as money is tight and it's saved me a 3rd of the cost of my ticket for Bristol City at home in the playoffs, but honestly sort of regretting that choice reading all the comments on here. Sounds like it was a cracking afternoon. Fair play to all involved (even Bracknall, who looked like he took it all in good spirit).

Hoping there'll be some video highlights etc put out by the club soon.
Same. My daughter was begging me to go...mainly cos of you tube stars but also she wanted to see Bash.

But I was in same boat as you.

Up on YouTube now 👍

To be fair a lot felt like that because when he first came it was as a midfielder. The move to wingback / back three and our style of play transformed him in to one of the most important players in that fantastic team and a player capable of playing in the Premier League. The other aspects you mention we all agree with. He's a top and genuine bloke who deserved everything he achieved and we were lucky to have for so long.
Absolutely. We came up with a role for him that rolled all his qualities into one new position instead of him suffering the utility player's problem of playing three or four positions and none of them very well.

Plus he did it alongside the rise of Coutts from being a player no one liked, Freeman that was transfer listed. We'd got Fleck on a free and Coventry weren't sad to see him go after finishing near the bottom. O'Connel was an unknown. Wilder looked like a "just bring in anyone who'll take this cursed job".

Then we started the season looking beyond shit. Being 3-0 down to I think Southend after fifteen minutes.

So many things came together to take us on that rise. You see a few big characters made now and then but I've never seen so many do what the likes of Basham did all at once.

Doesn't take a lot to upset him on there, especially if you disagree with his 'politics'.

His legs are painfully thin compared to what they were and he doesnt look comfortable running. Really sad that one accident can result in such a drastic transformation to someones life.

Especially sad when you consider just what a machine Bash was, in terms of general fitness. Obviously most footballers are as fit as a fiddle, but I always thought he stood out in that respect.

Even before his new role you always knew Bash would put in 100% effort even when we were shite. I once had a chat with the owner of the gym in the North East where Bash went, said he was the fittest person he'd ever known.
Even though it wasn't always easy on the eye, Bash was the epitome of a player you want in your club.

As someone who doesnt live in the city I would like to ask If the shirts worn at the Bash game are up for Sale ? great opportunity to raise extra cash for a worthy cause ? opportunity missed if not utb
Blackburn game shirts have just gone on sale, so if they use the same auctioneer site, keep checking on here:

Anyone know what happend with jack O'Connell.

Has he fell out with the club over medical care or other reason.
Just thought he should have been there

Wonder if he watched his Mrs in the Manchester derby (if they are still together).

I think it might have been her first start after having a long injury lay off.

I guess if he doesnt want to kick a ball (or cant anymore), does he watch his Mrs or come to Bashs game to just sit and watch and not really play a big part.

Just a thought id had and i guess then, its each to there owns decision.

Looked a fantastic day. Gutted to miss out.

I know it couldn't be help but it was just a shame it was on that day. Day after a home match and a play of campaign game ahead. Also a few players missing due to the POs.

You'd have thought he'd still be there for bash tho playing or not? He went to watch his mrs in manc derby which is fair enough but just thought one of the best team mates you played with, had some unbelievable memories and promotions and all that, has a testimonial, which are rare these days surely could've come along for at least support? Like i say fair enough he went to watch his mrs and that but not even a word on social media for bash or the day or anything

Think it was her first match back after a serious injury

There all fair points and everyone is different.

I dont know if he went to watch his Mrs, it was just a possible reason he wasnt there.

For all we know, he may have been at the Lane, but preferred to stay in the back ground to keep all the focus on Bash and the charity.

This ìs my only link to social media, so i dont even know how active JOC is on social media.

He may have sent a private message, instead of doing it for every person and there dog to see.

Who knows.

I have mentioned this before but Bashams brother who played on Sunday was in the same Raf squadron and RAF footy team as my lad, Bash used to give his boots after most games and he kitted out the team in them ,some even played in the wrong size they were that grateful. Top guy Bash.

The whole afternoon was really well done and a very nice atmosphere. Football-wise, Jags definitely carried a pretty dull first half with his antics coming out from goal. Second half was much more entertaining.

I thought there was a risk of the second half being spoiled by ‘comedy bantz’ of bringing on too many players, Bracknall bringing himself on etc etc. But actually it was pretty well judged and added to the entertainment.

Well done to everyone involved. A proper send off for Bash and others, a lot of money raised for a good cause, and I imagine everyone had a good time.
Any idea how much it raised vs how much they needed for the machine?

Think they were trying to raise £1.8m, that's what Gary Sinclair said prior to kickoff, not sure how much has been raised so far though.

Probably find out during the Bristol City game on Monday.
