First saw him playing for Villa at Saltergate in August 1970 (yes, Villa were in the 3rd division). My dad raved about him and we hoped he would come to us. Eventually he came to us 6 years later. Had a good left foot.
Right Silent, another one of my vague memories as a nipper stood at the front of the Kop …..

Didn’t Chico score for us against Villa in a rare 2-1 home win in the season we were relegated from Division 1 early 70’s ?

RIP Chico.

You mean February 1976? No, Chico was still at Villa. Woodward and Guthrie scored for us. Chico joined us in summer 1976

1993 was a bit before my time (I was 7 😂) but he was still working the holidays in 2010 -2013.

He was always lovely but his paperwork was an utter shambles - he probably ended up funding half the play scheme himself because he'd lost receipts 😂 Our formidable wee Scottish payroll officer used to greet him with a shake of the head and a "what trouble are you causing now?"
Oh! Ha ha!! My assumption there! Blimey, he was still at it into his 60s then!!! Quite a force of nature from what I remember.

Just seen this. Chico ran my daughter and sons after school club at Nethergreen. Lovely bloke and as others have said slightly bonkers. RIP Chico ❤️⚔️
