Right.

Here it is.

We have 5 out and out strikers.

Leo.
Don.
Wilson.
Sharp.
Ched.

There will be a maximum of 2 of these to start with a maximum of 2 further on the bench.

As things stand, Bill and Ched are in 4th and 5th slots respectively (or 5th and 4th).

You do the math !

Something has got to give. Nixon may well be being a bit of a tinker, but based on the above, it’s more than likely there are elements of truth in what he states.

Both Ched and Billy will have suitors if a move is deemed appropriate.

We then run the risk of injuries with no option to loan someone in after the end of January. Unless we see Wilder bring another striker in, I don't see any departures except maybe Iavery on loan.

This is bollocks - Lavery will go out on loan leaving 5 strikers. 2 will start 2 on bench 1as spare against suspension and injury. That is exactly the situation CW has been banging on about since the day he walked into the club - genuine competition within a close group. Having taken 3 transfer windows to create what he set out to do why the hell do you think he’s going to start pulling it apart?

Fine.

As with others, missing the point.

Which to repeat is as follows :-

Would Ched or Billy be sweet with being the fifth choice striker ?

Not even making the bench ?

Getting pitch time with the 23s in order to try to keep match fit ?

Having to rely on one of the “main 4” being injured / suspended ?

Me thinks not !

Ched has to be 5th in the list. Hes not had a proper run of games for yonks and the likelihood of him getting a game ahead of Leon, the Don, Wilson or Billy is minimal and if I'm wrong thats the end of Billy at the Lane as he won't settle for being 5th choice.

Precisely my point.

I don’t think Ched minds coming second...5th might be pushing things... o_O:D

What the hell are you lot saying ! Ched is just coming back from an operation to get him fit and you lot want to ship him out!.
Wilder has said he is looking to Ched to play his part in the run in,We all want that don't we ?. He may need a few games to get him up to speed but sending him out on loan is not the way .

Bolton going for a Mean Machine front line. I’d rather him drop down a division and play for a football side than go to Bolton.

Agree 100%. You don't pick up the lad work on his fitness to finally get him back to the point where he could be very useful...a d the chuck him out on loan without at least loomin at the lad in competitive action.

Ched should be going nowhere but on the Bramall Lane pitch.

As for Sharp, he's still a quality player and a goalscorer. You don't get rid of those. He's a player who should play a big part of the remaining part of the season but he needs to buckle down and work hard in training. Bills problem is that he is more reliant on service than some of the other forwards and the service recently has been poor. Now that we have had a revamp in the middle Billy could come on strong again.

To lose either would be just daft.

But my point is that it is a nonsense to say he is 4th or 5th choice or indeed 1st or 2nd choice. He may miss out this week or next but I'm pretty certain that as we stand at the moment CW doesn't number the strikers in terms of which choice they are - when he talks about genuine competition he means he wants a situation that challenges players to prove to him during the week that they are worthy of a place in the starting 11. He is more aware than any of us what they all individually bring to the team and just because Billy (or Ched) are not starting at the moment in no way means that they won't be doing so over the remainder of the season.

Oh by hell he does.

Clarke is #1. No doubt whatsoever.

How else could you explain one goal in 630+ minutes, genuinely poor performances and STILL manages to play every minute of every game.

And don’t get me started on the armband.

Smacks of double standards to be brutally honest. Players ARE NOT stupid. They understand better than most when they are behind in the pecking order due to another player putting in consistently good performances.

They also understand when the opposite is the case, the inference is that whatever happens in training / U23s / brief sub appearances, the chances are they can’t change the managers perception.

He wasn't fit before his operation and since his operation he's not had any of what the pro's would call a proper pre season and nor has he got a few Championship games under his belt. He's not fit nor up to speed and when you are struggling for every point you can get to hang on to 6th spot can you afford someone being allowed to "get up to speed?"

How's it feel that Leon is top scorer in the Championship?

And if he goes another 5 or 6 games without looking any better you don't think Wilder will bring one of the others in? I'm not saying he's going to change on a match by match basis but it's not set in stone that Leon is number 1. In some ways he's held on to his starting place over the last few weeks because the focus has been more on the gaps in our midfield which has meant there has been an argument that he hasn't been scoring because we haven't been creating. If that defence goes and we see us building on the Norwich midfield performance and Leon still doesn't get back to where he was earlier in the season he will know the boss will look to start one of the others. The competition and options up front are much greater now, if we are to get into the playoffs this season it will come from the depth of squad CW has created and the pressure this places on players to perform. The last thing Wilder wants is to go back to a team that in some respects picks itself because of the lack of depth of credible options and this is what would happen if he were to start letting the likes of Ched or Billy out on loan.

can be a month by month loan
recuperation can be a slow process, we need ready to go players in last 18 games
we cant nurture players back in now

As a fan of SUFC ?

Wonderful.

Clapped and cheered every single one of them.

Bouncing (sorry ;)) from the rafters like every fecker else for the brace in S6 :)

But what DOES disappointment me is the seemingly untouchable / undroppable status he current appears to have amongst the vast majority of fans and, more pointedly, CW/AK.

Look, I don’t see what goes on behind the scenes. What goes on in training. Maybe there is a “bigger picture” that I’m just not privy to.

But, on face value and only that, my gut feeling is that something isn’t quite right.

Maybe I’m way off, but I do find it interesting that performance levels have dropped off, there has been an admission of such by quite a few (so not just my sole point of view!) and the player has not been dragged off even once.

Maybe he is SO far in credit with earlier season performances (admittedly good) that the current dry spell is excused.

But for how much longer ?

Ultimately I await to see how this unfolds with genuine interest.

I don't think it can any more - the rules have changed, it would have to be till the end of the season.

Ched needs a run of proper games and we aren't in a position to give him that run as we need every point we can get. However i dont see him being loaned as just one injury to the front 4 could see him on the bench.

Most likely outcome is it's a write off season for Ched and he does a full pre season to try and get fit for next year.

Probably a load of rubbish but a Notts county fan l work with says they've been linked with ched.

You have an opportunity to see Ched Evans on Ipswich towns live feed tonight, we must not send him out on loan under any circumstances... especially not to fucking Bolton...

Alan Nixon says on twitter that Bolton are exploring the possibility of taking him on loan. Although I'd like to see him play for us I guess it means he's getting close to match fitness which is a good thing.
if he’s related to Richard then i’ll give it a swerve thanks
