There is no right moment to lose one of your better players but a month or so before the transfer window isn't the worst. It's certainly not like the Evans situation where we had 3 games left, no replacement at all and no chance of getting anybody in.

You are probably asking the same question as a lot of our fans are.

Has CW & AK let us down yet? - the answer is no and we just have to let them work something out.

Remember when we were bottom of L1? - They had a real good look at themselves and the club and changed it drastically - we just need a few minor changes this time. It might take a couple of games, but we have the ideal 2 games at home (with slightly less pressure) to work out how we go forward.

Someone has to step to the plate now - we just need to give them a bit of time.

This is where the sports psychologist side of Mr Wilder (or whoever they use) gets the rest of the squad’s heads straight & focused.
Easy to allow the injury to Coutts to get to them unless someone’s giving them the right things to focus on.
Couttsy still has an important role to play this season - without his boots on. If the squad see him making progress, it’ll give ‘em all a boost.

The players will be rightly devastated about Couttsy injury, and it is up to Wilder to use it in the most positive way possible to draw continued excellent performances out of the side.

With the Evans scenario it was a totally different kettle of fish, it was a huge bombshell that had huge and wide reaching consequences, and it was a mortal blow that I don't think the club properly recovered from for at least a good 18 months.

Timing and circs are all different to the Ched Evans situation. I'd say this is more like when Bassett's lot lost Simon Webster in November 1988, also to a broken leg. Webbo had been a major contributor that season but Bassett's lot, just like Wilder's (hopefully) has a bit more about them than to let a single setback throw them off course. Of course DB's team of 88/89 did go up.

No. That was then, this is now.

We came out in that second half on Friday and looked shell shocked, but were professional enough to not only see the game out but finish the task with a third goal.

For me it may take a little adjustment to find the right players to play the roles, Coutts leaves a big gap, but this side has so much quality, is the fittest i've seen and is extremely well organised. Plus they have the heart of lions.

We were as a club numbed by Ched going to prison . It was an unprecedented way to lose a player. Coutts like many before was injured in a match. It has no comparison.
And we were without cover or the chance to get cover ,we have back up and the JTW this time

I can remember near the end of the game at Wolves,ref blew his whistle 3 players,if I remember rightly Stan,Tracey and Pikey or was it the current manager came running toward us fans to celebrate,that was fine,but the ref had only blown for a free kick,and they had to scarper back on to the pitch and quickly
