I think Ched will be fully motivated and try to play as many games as he can for us. It wouldn't be out of the question were he to find some form that he gets called up for the Wales squad who may make the World Cup. As above posters say, its last chance saloon for him

Says the poster who calls others delicate flowers for disagreeing with his take on things.

So despite someone on here saying he believed there was no case to be had, someone who actually knows the law, you're still of the opinion that there could a possibility of McCabe losing? Based on what?

I didn't say you did say anything about Wilder. I put a thought to you. Same as with the pay structure. If like me, you don't know what current players are earning - and have no idea of Cheds "deal" how can you know the figure in the article you don't believe may not break that?

I don't believe it's the first time you've mentioned this story. Because you seem to believe it could be true, that doesn't make it so. I disagree, it is a forum and that's what happens.

If McCabe had rolled over on this one, his credibility would be shot. Imagine the further fallout Ched has a poor season or is injured half the time. The clubs bigger than both him and Evans and personally I'd doubt KMc would take a risk like this just to see off a possible court case.

I say 'delicate flower' not because someone disagrees, but because they seem so sensitive about it. You seem like that with this.

I wouldn't expect there to be any case against us. But we just don't know, none of us do. It's not something that can be totally dismissed. It was in the Daily Mail (well informed on SUFC) and if they were preparing a case against SUFC they must have believed they had a chance of winning.

10k p/w breaking the pay structure is surely a total non starter. I don't know the exact wages but I'm very confident in saying that - especially when you factor in the promotion wage rises. Maybe it would be seen as excessive for a squad player though.

You doubt McCabe would allow a possible court case to affect his actions, that's fair enough. But there's no way that any suggestion otherwise can be dismissed as 'silly'. I don't think signing Ched's a big risk either from a football point of view, especially if it is only 150-250k up front.

“You would get a more factual representation of current affairs by throwing a tin of Alphabetti Spaghetti through an extractor fan.”

“In some respects the Sun provides a valuable public service,”

“if you see someone reading it then you immediately know they’re a cunt and to avoid them at all costs.”

I simply disagreed with your take on things. Nothing for me to be sensitive about.

Okay. But it's been totally dismissed by someone who actually works in the field of law. The story was, I believe, first aired on the Mirror not the Mail. And died a death fairly quickly. I'd have thought any case preparation story would have had a bit more meat on its bones than a paragraph or two in a couple of tabloids though.

Silly was the wrong word to use and I withdraw it. Unlikely would have been better.

As for £10k a week. For someone out of the game for five years or so, and not had the best of seasons? Some already there may be a bit peeved about that of they aren't earning that. He's got a lot to prove. The club would be committed to £1.5m if he's a flop, plus any transfer fees. Even at our new level, to me that's a gamble. Increments to a much lower contract would make more sense but newspapers like to sex things up when it comes to footballers wages.

No doubt we'll see in time.

I'm pleased that we've signed Ched but as you say and Alan Biggs said it too that the deal to sign Ched has come from the very top which leads me to think has Wilder had a say in this?! I'm assuming he wouldn't have wanted Ched signed unless he wanted him? I know a few have asked this question but McCabes obvious support for Ched makes me slightly worry re who brought Ched in.

The chairman has taken on the press duties leaving Wilder to manage the team and concentrate on squad building.

Damn good move by McC keeping Wilder out of the limelight..
