Cheats Don't Prosper

Possibly. Although that's not exactly what i was saying, BushBlade was it? So I'm getting pelters because I think Clive Tyldesley and Glenn Hoddle etc are twats?

On the other hand, nobody seems to want to tell me why I was wrong about any of those match incidents.

"England were not total innocents, with both Henderson and Harry Maguire leaving themselves open to accusations of being over-theatrical and many others sailing close to the wind."

There you go, from the BBC itself
https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/44610244

What you said is;

In common with a lot of blokes of a certain age I no longer care whether England win or lose, however I had a slight epiphany last night about why it is I sometimes feel a certain inner glow when they fail.

It's because of the commentary. Last night it was the nightmare scenario of Tyldesley and Hoddle but it could equally have been those BBC twats like Lawrenson or Murhpy. It's like having to listen for 90 (120) minutes to the gobbiest happy-clapper in your ear all night. There is no attempt whatsoever at any sort of sober analysis. Consequently the Colombian upper-head-butter should have been red-carded. There are even Liverpool fans on Rawk who were ashamed of Henderson's play acting for that one. Harry was giving it with the Marcel Marceau TV screen, the new version of the imaginary red card. Henderson's identical heading infringement later passed without comment.’

I’m not really sure how I’ve misinterpreted it.

"I no longer care whether England win or lose" is the key. If I actively wanted them to lose I would have said so. The rest was just about the abysmal commentary.

Look, I’m going to add just one more point because it appears to most on here that you’re winding the thread up into a biggie - why, after England’s best WC result in years, would anyone launch such negative posts if they didn’t have an agenda?
We’re pretty content with last night’s match result, so let us stay that way.

And I think if you can't tell me which specific incidents that I mentioned in my original post are wrong, and why, then you're an insult to your user name.
The Kane penalty, the Maguire 'dive' and the Lingard 'dive' is enough to be going on with.

As you said re Kane - he had to hold on to him OR LET HIM GO.
Maguire clearly lunged for the ball and lost his footing ( and signalled to the ref no foul committed ) on Linford the defenders foot didn't make contact with anything but his other thigh connected with Lingards trailing foot to cause him to fall.
As commentator said, ball had already gone but Lingards couldn't have remained standing.

I appreciate you don't need or want to engage about this. My post doesn't need to stop you or anyone enjoying wins, deserved or undeserved, as I did in say 1990 or 1996. This is not what this thread is about, though. I'm not the only one who thinks that either. I already posted a BBC match report saying similar things.

Here's another one from the Guardian
https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/jul/04/cloud-hanging-world-cup-fifa-england-colombia

Just because you're firmly behind England doesn't mean losing sight of reality does it? Colombia are bigger cheats than England. England also cheat.

Take a long hard look in the mirror.

Tunisia.
Panama.
Colombia.
Colombia coach.

First time i have ever seen a player try to dig the pitch up (penalty spot) with his boots.
Can we put neymar on that list for his exaggerated rolling around the other day

I thought it was a soft penalty, there was some holding - no more than anyone else does, Kane dived and Sanchez ended up falling on top of him. The holding was probably worth a penalty but Colombia could probably ask why he chose to punish that particular one when 100 similar or worse incidents have been given nothing.

In addition, both Lingard and Harry dived to get penalties. Henderson was caught out head butting someone off the ball. Harry got arsey after one of the Colombians had the nerve to push him back.

Lest we forget, Ali and Young are probably the biggest diving cheats in the entire competition.

This is not to forgive Colombia's Pulis-ball antics and general shithousery, but just for balance. In common with a lot of blokes of a certain age I no longer care whether England win or lose, however I had a slight epiphany last night about why it is I sometimes feel a certain inner glow when they fail.

Carlos Sanchez was physically trying to mount Kane which is far more holding then what anyone else does, the commentary for every nations' home broadcaster is biased. Have you ever heard Japanese, Mexican and Brazilian commentators celebrate goals? They go mental and fairplay to them. You say you feel an inner glow when we fail? Cheer up mate, It's coming home.

Not a single negative comment is allowed so when Lingard passes it straight to a yellow shirt we hear "he couldn't quite link up with Sterling there". Had a Colombian gone in over the top as Young did we'd have known all about that as well.

To be honest, it's given me a greater insight into why Scots, Welsh and Irish want England to crash and burn so badly. It might not just be their inherent inferiority complex after all.

A couple of points - Alli and Lingard the biggest diving cheats in the entire competition? I don’t think you’ve been watching every game because that’s clearly not true and sounds like a wind up to me
- re. The commentators, have you ever heard a commentator from another country? They are totally and unashamedly biased, why shouldn’t our English commentators want England to win? It annoys me when English commentators say things like ‘oh well you have to say that’s brilliant’ when opposition score against us - no, we don’t have to say that do we.

Wrong section but will accept English hysteria as an excuse ;)

There, happy? You've actually made me quote myself. Next I'll be talking about myself in the third person.

Gordoncharles thinks you should at least give posters with contrary views the respect of reading what they say before commenting.

One line of balance.

Line.

As you were...

What’s happened to the forum rules Foxy?

Can we please remove all this “England” bollocks to a place where those that want it can indulge themselves and leave a bit of room for we Blades?

I demand a statement.

Tha waint even get a letter.

Weak leadership as usual?

Well, I shall have to refer the matter to someone who gets things done...

Just don't ..

The second coming will be just like real life. Fun at first but then it gets boring and before you know it, you just want it to stop and watch some telly

Just hurry up and DIE you fat Argie cheating CUNT.

Greasy Dago Mary Donna is nothing more than a coke snorting fat cheating bad loser scum bag.

He's simply hurting because he's become a sour figure of ridicule.

Never has the song " You Fat Bastard " be more deserving.

Could equally describe fan favourite Gascoigne, of course.
