With this sale i see us being weaker, the money will just be swallowed up somewhere.

Yet our rivals in this league are strengthening or looking to strengthen.

DONE DEAL: Charlton Athletic have signed defender Jason Pearce from Wigan Athletic.

Jason Pearce might have been a seriously good signing for Utd. A no finesse no nonsense centre half. The type we need. Unfortunately though he wanted to go south and wasnt a viable option. Not bothered about any of the rest. We still need a Morgan type though...and a midfield general. Oh for a McCall to sign for us now. Promotion by March.

If the sale sees us land someone like Nathan Byrne or Bradley Dack, wingers who have recently tore this league up with pace and trickery, I would be OK with it. But I'm not entirely confident in that sort of signing arriving.

If / when Che goes there wont be any cross divisional big signing. Can see Utd spending a few bobbut i reckon CW has his nose to the floor like a blood hound and already knows his targets who are relative unknowns to us Blades. In the long run they will probably be fantastic value for money.

Players signed by other clubs are always fantastic. We should have signed each and every one of them, even if our manager thinks they're shite. No other club should ever sign a player. We should recruit them all.

We've missed out again. More broken promises; more pledges unfulfilled.

I can't say I'm too bothered if Che goes - he been ok overall nothing more - at times looks like he can be a proper player but I don't see it happening with the blades and too many times poor to average - get a decent fee for him and invest some of the cash where we need it - we have good options up front without Che and definitely light on quality in other areas - cash in and move on - can't wait for tomorrow - good performance and a draw would be a good start - utb's

Hopefully Newcastle get tonked and the fans demand a rushed, panic buy=Che at a vastly inflated fee...

considering our record of reinvesting we would need a bigger fee then that to see significant first team improvenents.

Can you imagine the meltdown if we had sold Adams and signed that lad from Kilmarnock for £100k.

Let's just hope the add ons aren't performance based.

And let's hope Ilkeston's sell on clause is no more than 10%.

If Wilder didn't want to sell by the way we wouldn't have accepted a bid this long before the end of the window. We could surely get a bit more, but time's more important for us, time to re-invest. If we weren't going to re-invest there would've been no urgency to get this deal done.

That's a good point. And Harriott would've been much more important for Charlton than Adams would've been for us. Not very good from their point of view. Their fans won't be happy. They seem to be downsizing a bit too much.

I don't understand all the negative comments regarding Adams really. All this 'he's only looked average' and 'doesn't look interested' are contradictory for me. He's a young lad who in all honesty is only a couple of seasons out of non league football and coupled with having quite possibly the worst Blades manager in living memory last season, is it any wonder he wasn't performing when he couldn't get a regular star for some of the season. He's young, he's learning and he will improve. I haven't seen him in the pre season games but I can't see anywhere that says he has been poor and on a few occasions people have said he has looked far better than last year. Don't get me wrong, if selling benefits the squad then no player is unsellable, but to a club like Birmingham and for the price being mentioned ?? Don't forget there will also be a fee to Ilkeston too. £2M isn't enough for Adams in the present climate if players such as Roofe are going for £3M. Let's not just sell to the first concrete offer, we have done that all too often before.

Think with Che and any comments , justify the means to a end . There's nothing personal. The young lad holds the key to finance , the glaringly obvious , we are 4 players short of a promotion chasing side .

If and when he goes , Wilder then can complete the final jigsaw . The result at Bolton may well show and determine , we need to sell sooner rather than later .

Good luck to the young man , but needs must for United.

History is illuminating.Word search for dinosaur dave, upanatem, muck or nettles, hoof and fly swatter initially but there are others. I think Pinchy gets fed up with a certain style of poster beating up the club for not signing a player when in fact said player was never available, affordable or didn't fit into management plans. For that I have some sympathy, but equally pointing it out all the time that some people are divvies can be wearing. Just accept that 99% of people do not have Pinchy's intellectual ability or knowledge of football and all will be safe and well with the world. I have, and I am a much calmer individual for it. :D

Our recruitment has stalled and further recruitment depends (so its said) on selling one of the clubs better prospects,no one knows if the fee for Adams will just be swallowed up and never seen again.

I understand that LBoE, but it's a shame to be sanctioning the sale of a good young un when we have so many players on the books that we really don't need or want. I could understand it more if it was Newcastle or a mid to low premier side, but Birmingham. If the money completes the rebuild then at least we would see something for the sacrifice.

I don't understand the willingness of some of our supporters to see Adams go. He's a talented young player with a lot of years ahead of him and time to improve. He already offers a threat and would be a very valuable asset moving forward in terms of his development and potential increase in value.

If we really are selling him to Birmingham for as little as £1.5m up front then it shows that as always we don't have a pot to piss in and can't keep any of our better players.....

I hear some saying "well what do you expect we are a selling club in the third tier" my response would be to accept that but also ask.....then what's the point in bothering at all?

I don't believe the lad has the right attitude to make it to the top. I also don't think he has the right attitude for CW's team. Yes he's only a few years out of non league but before that he'd failed at Forest. I don't mind us getting rid if the money is reinvested to make the team stronger.
