Unnamed and an unofficial approach !!! Anyone feel the club might, just might, be putting him in the shop window....or am I too cynical ?

Maybe Chris now knows for sure there's no bee money and needs to up the offer to MK Dons so is trying to create a bit of interest in our one saleable asset as I don't believe anyone will pay a million for DCL.

Star says we've turned down a £1m bid for him from an unnamed Prem club.

"Sheffield United have rejected a £1m offer for Che Adams"

Is it just a matter of time tho? I guess so :(

This is standard practise to put it out in the media we have rejected a bid.

Everyone says well done, we are showing some ambition, then days later the player is sold, with a reported higher bid(sometimes it isnt),and the `we did all we could` mantra.

This is the beginning of the end for Che at the Lane, you mark my words!

Being a third division club this is the pot we piss in...

Even those some people think we deserve...

I think if we get 1.5 - 2m I would sell let's be fair did he really set the world alight last year?

Offer received from team Y
Offer rejected
Player agent comes in demanding more money
We reject
Hello team Y

As much as I like Adams a bid for the amount robbo blade says is good money for a player without a trick

Didn't set the world alight in a team devoid of creativity....of any kind....under probably the most clueless, tactically inept manager since adams?

1. We turned down interest last winter with fees rising to £2m.
2. Finding a like for like replacement will take a long time. (Same ability and cost)
3. What chance is there of McCabe investing even half of any sum into the first team squad?

So, for me we need to build around him and see what he can do this season. Come next year we ma have a £5m pound player!

Here's the clue. Players like Che and DCL will not progress with the current United setup - sixth season in Division 3 and the squad in turmoil. Unlike players we have sold in the recent past - Murphy, Maguire etc. etc. who were more or less the finished article, Che has a lot of work to do. Better all round if he does it at a higher level - for a fair price.

The pisser is that we'll never know how much we actually got for him as it will be the football equivalent of money laundering - 'undisclosed'.

Cheers Che. The two goals against Spurs were ace.

Good luck fella.

Okay, McCabe ... pay off the painting of the cladding on the South Stand now son.

pommpey
And that's about as much as £1m would achieve. Certainly won't prompt investment in the team. We have to get the costs down first.

Brit Assombolonga(sp) went for about £8m to Forest after one season at P'boro scoring 23 goals in 43 games for them, Adams has scored half the amount in roughly the same amount of games but no where near the same amount of minutes due to sub appearances in a shite side not even playing upfront, surely Adams is worth £4m on that alone? Or, shall we keep getting pittance for our raw talent?

Again, this article could all be bollocks.

I'd want treble that figure, add ons and a sell on clause minimum. Then the money goes directly to the manager to bring in young, hungry, talented players in several positions. In footballing terms, Che is probably younger than his actual age - he hasn't had the elite coaching that most lads at pro clubs have . I think a lot of people underrate his potential because of this.

Wasnt Adams released by Forest?

Believe it was due to attitude rather than anything else.

Spot on.

He was at Coventry and Ilkeston I believe. He went to Ilkeston as a youth team player. I would put question marks on his character, and whether he wants to improve technically. Maybe he's difficult to coach? The natural ability isn't in question.

Much as I love confirmation that every fresh start falls at the first hurdle and The Kevbots fall back on the "excellent bit of business" shite, shouldn't we actually wait and see what actually happens before getting revved up?

Sell Che,bank the money until JTW,then buy Ched (all dependent on him not being re-done as a rapist, and he is banging goals in for Chesterfield)

Didn't Wilder say there'd been a couple of enquirers about Che and DCL...but no 'official' bids?

Does t get much clearer than that.
Bye lads.

Wait for the revelation about the 50% sell on clause that Ilkeston's fine commercial negotiators managed to get into the deal to bring him here (I'm joking but would anyone be surprised?).

For what it's worth, seeing what other players have gone for recently, I'd like to think we could get £2m up front for Che and rising to £3-3.5m in add ons, would also like a sell on clause too. But knowing our negotiaters....

If Gillingham can turn down £2million for Dack like they allegedly did in January, i'd hope Che is worth at least that in potential alone. He's far from the finished article, but you'd hope he would bring a higher price in today's market than Dack, with PL clubs looking to hoover up any potential talent they can find.
