He bagged one less than Billy last season, often playing up on his own in a mediocre Birmingham team. He scored a wide variety of goals & this season is being kept out at Southampton only by Danny Ings (2nd or 3rd top scorer in the league).

Sure, but don't we already have a couple of strikers we signed in the Summer who are still trying to make the adjustment to the Prem? I get that it's hard, so I'm not going to write Che Adams off as a player, but the same would apply to what we've already got.

A lot of reports saying Leeds have offered Southampton £1m to take Che Adams on loan until the end of the season with an option to buy him for £10m at the end of it.

I seriously think that's an absolute steal if they manage it.

Good age and clearly he's developed as a player since leaving.
Good apparent price as well but Wilder showing him the door probably means it's a no go anyway.

He’s not disciplined enough and tbf I think we all know it, personally I’d like to see another midfield player to challenge Norwood someone who can open up the game even play in the same team, I’m still an Adrian Mooy fan.

If he didn't have the history with the club I think it'd be an excellent signing. He's capable of playing up top on his own, off a target man and linking play with someone like Mousset. Physically excellent etc etc

If Leeds get him that's a superb signing. I think that's where Pukki will end up next season and those 2 would be a fantastic forward line

His name is Aaron though !

I'm surprised by that. I doubt he has the intelligence or discipline to play in Bielsa's formation. They are desperate for a striker though so probably worth a punt.

What's Mark McNulty doing these days?

What exact history does he have with the club ?

We were league one and he got a move to the league above ? Just like the other 20 players we’d sold in league one.

Would much rather have Adams over Robinson Adams will come good in the prem for Leeds or Southampton eventually imo

Being called JEC on here is a history.

I'm not sure I want Adam's back but if the price is correct I know which one I'd take of of Adams at 10m or Watkins at 20m+

Yeah, I'd just play Sharp n spend the money on Henderson.

Southampton supposedly may have to sell off some players this Summer due to financial difficulties.

I wonder if this would open the door for us to make move for one or two of their players.

I'm a big fan of Che Adams (as displayed on this thread in a number of posts) & of course Danny Ings is a proven striker at this level. He would cost a lot, but would push us on another level.

Also, James Ward Prowse has always looked a very competent midfield player.

The lad who.scored against ( djnepo ?) Looks another level too

That doesn’t exactly tally with what Wilder’s actually publicly said about him though, was very openly praising him at the end of last season.
I took that as Wilder having run the rule over him but preferred other targets.

We might be talking about different comments said at different times. The ones I’m thinking of were where he spoke about them both having a good chat at the EFL awards. Him thinking he’s a good player, and wanting to sign him ahead of other targets, are two different things. I’m only suggesting we know based on what he’s said before that he does rate Adams.

I'm basically agreeing with you, the quote I was thinking of was when Wilder said 'he'd matured a lot' or something like that. I think he'd be a good addition to the squad given only Mousset has any real speed up top (if Robinson leaves) and he looked a real threat against us.

Adams plays like a street footballer and has outstanding physical attributes. He's pretty brainless though, and seems to be pretty easily worked out at this level. Ings is a class act but has an horrendous injury record and will no doubt be on big money as he signed from Liverpool. Wages, fee and injury record would rule him out I'd imagine.

For me, he’s not really had the impact I thought he’d have at Southampton. There could be plenty of reasons for that – system not right for him, yet to settle, whatever. It could also be that he doesn’t have what’s required. Still only 23 mind.

What financial difficulties are they in? Is it because of Covid? If so, what make us immune? As PL owners go, ours isn’t particularly wealthy.

Great shout - I would be happy with these 3 ... Hendo for a brilliant 3rd season on loan ... That lad from Sunderland (Josh Maja) who went to Bordeaux and banged in 16 ... plus like Van Dijk as well (but I am greedy)

I didnt hear it!

There were a few articles on it at the time. This from the Birmingham press:
“Che Adams has been outstanding since he has been here and attracted a lot of interest - and quite rightly so, from some top Premier League clubs,” the Blades boss said.

“He’s come on leaps and bounds and he is a real threat and we had to deal with that. He is one of the top players in this division.”

And our local press:
Wilder, whose side climbed to second in the Championship when they beat Preston North End last weekend, has first hand experience of how these situations can pan-out. United were still a third tier club when he was appointed and, despite acknowledging their squad was in desperate need of an overhaul, had privately expressed a desire to work with Adams until economics intervened. City submitted a bid and United rejected it. But after being informed by Adams' representative that his client was intent on forcing through the move, Wilder begrudgingly relented.

"Che wanted to go and it was okay," Wilder said. "Hats off to him, he made the right decision. It was right at the time because we needed that money to invest in other areas.”

"We needed to strengthen the squad in other departments and had to sacrifice a young player to do that. I think we've got a sell-on with him too, so we're protected with that. He's certainly doing well."

"Che got regular football," Wilder said. "Who knows if he'd have got that here at the time? In any case, we used the money to bring in people we needed like (goalkeeper) Simon Moore and Leon Clarke who went on to do brilliant in his second season after the boys got up."
