The difference is....

Southampton pay £14m
Sheffield Utd pay £11.2m

Birmingham could ask for another £2m off us (£16m), and we'd still be paying less than Southampton, and Birmingham would still be receiving more.

Both clubs pay a £14m transfer fee. Saints pay £14m, Brum owe us £2.8, Brum net £11.2m

We pay £14m , Brum owe us £2.8m ergo Brum net £11.2m.

I can’t get my head round this one as to why you think they would. It makes no difference. The only thing they could do is reduce the fee and make it more incentive based so they can pay us less. That being said we could also offered them an incentive based deal like the Egan one
Yeah I see where coming from 😂I misunderstood. My bad

Southampton could well be a team we need to finish above next season to survive. We don’t seem able to compete with any team financially for players this Summer. The task looks almost impossible to keep us up to be honest.
It does appear more daunting as the reality sets in.

Villa & Soton will be mid-table sides next season , way above Norwich & us.
We can't compete with their dollar.
We are running out of potential Clubs above which we can finish :
Bournemouth , Brighton , Burnley , and .... err .... now then ........give me a moment ... maybe Norwich ?

If Brighton get McBurnie and Burnley get Maupay - they don't even have to play them - they've harmed us , which is enough for their purposes.

This is a ruthless league and the bottom 5 already know who they are - it'll be football's version of cage-fighting.

You’re right, it wasn’t like that when we went from league 1 into La Liga was it?😪😉

When do I buy the Premier Return ticket for 2020/21? Will there be an early bird offer?

And whilst Chris Wilder continues to pull unexpected rabbits out of hats :

1) there is no reason to stop believing in his magic ; and

2) there is no panic and no need to worry too much about what other Clubs do (except to note that our survival gets a bit harder to achieve).

But Chris & AK have achieved the virtually impossible in 3 years.

So if they are pulling out left-overs from the bottom of the pile , at 16:49 on Thursday 8 August 2019 , they still inspire more confidence than their umpteen predecessors since 2007.

I completely disagree with this negative assessment.
We couldn't "compete with the dollar" of various clubs last season but we still finished well ahead of them.
A lot of people would not have put Fulham in the bottom five at this time last year as they had so much money and look what happened to them.
I think we have a good chance of finishing above the four teams you mention and one or two others too.

Good chance is fine.
Better chance is better , if we sign the strikers we need and prevent our rivals signing them.
And I've been believing since 1969 , so I'm unlikely to stop now , when the last 3 years have been amongst the top 10 of my 50 years of support.

Plus the £ 2.8 million we are now due = £ 4.3 Million.

The problem is, now that we are in the PL. £ 3/4 million is seen as the Friday fish and chip fund.

Though that is probably considered insufficient to many on here.

We can't sign anyone until the court case is settled and even then we wont be spending anything like 11 million, we would be best of buying decent championship players like Norwich have started as its very unlikely we will be in the prem in 12 months time and it would give us best chance of going back up.

Thank god we sold Adams , brooks , maguire ,DCL ,Kyle Walker for a combined worth of 20 million surely they can’t be worth much now they were great deals at the time

Brooks 50/60 Million
Maguire 80 Million
Kyle Walker 50 Million
Adams 15 Million
DCL 10 ?

What's up? Nothing to do until the Championship fixtures come out?
Don't worry, I'm as excited to see them as you are.

I’m not sure the current set of players would be too pissed off with us signing players on bigger wages than them. We do reward good performances with new contracts so it’s quite simple, prove yourself in the first 12/15 games and new deals will be offered.

Our issue is likely to be the ‘relegation reduction clause’, we, sensibly, seem to be looking to insert in contracts. This could be made more attractive to potential players by also having a relegation release fee I suppose, to give the player a get out route.

Our big pull factor is that any new signing would pretty much be guaranteed a full season in the first team.

1) there is no reason to stop believing in his magic
McCabe gambled on Colin’s abilities to do it last time on a shoe string.

Even CWAK’s magic abilities has its feckin limits

The reason we are shopping at Aldi yet again is the two owners don’t have the disposable wealth to run a Premier League club. But now CWAK has got them there they’re feightin over ‘t munneh
