if reports of Adams for £14m to Southampton are correct we would pay £11.2m if we were buying him due to 20% sell on clause - reckon that’d be a solid buy at that price tbh and could make him our marquee signing.

yeah true, i guess the problem is if we pop him on silly wages it will unsettle the squad and we could end up with an expensive flop if we come down, still, at that money i wonder if it’s worth offering a bit lower basic wage than soton with very, very nice performace based bonuses on top?

seems like our sensible wage structure is actually turning out to be a double edged sword in terms of attracting players at the right price!!

I totally respect the wages vs versus squad happiness argument but we’re entering a new world now and £60k per week is a middling Premiership rate. Those who got us here have been fantastic but they must realise that - for their earning longevity alone, others of a higher quality will need to be brought in a paid accordingly so that we can compete at this level.

Cornwall totally agree...we have to get away from this small minded thinking...if we want to compete in the premiership we have to pay premiership wages...that's what all the money goes on at other clubs.

Nobody is arguing we need to sign players on 100k a week but 50-60k is an average premiership wage and if we aren't going to pay that to our best 2 or 3 players weve no chance of competing The 'power houses' that are Southampton, Bournemouth, Palace, Watford, Burnley are paying that to loads of players.

He’s 22/23 and just banged in nearly 30 goals 13 million in this market is an absolute bargainnnn
