Change of formation?

So where will he be playing if everybody is available, I am not knocking basham, I am simply suggesting where he is going to fit in in the future, and no I was not at bury,
I was at Bury and as a midfielder with Bashams attributes he played pretty well but we had better players out there and better players at the club to play in the first xi so don't worry, you were right mate. :)

Forget about how Basham played and think if we play four at the back like what was said in the post, is he good enough to be one of the four? My opinion no.

Also, is Basham better than three or now four of our main midfielders? My opinion no where near.

Read what's put then give a response to the post not an outburst answer to one of your favourite players.

I had a few but was no where near bladdered but for me, Freeman and Fleck played better yesterday and were more deserving of MOTM but I don't give accolades like that out, that's for kids on computer games. :)

Basham has been consistent this season but I think Wright has been better and we look like conceding less with him in the team. All our midfielders have been a class above Basham this season and that's why they should play when fit. It's nothing against Basham, I just think we have better options in our main first xi.

spot on - we have no place for sentiment.

There will also come a time when we may have to drop Billy (hopefully in a few years) - just think of the fall out with that one

It had to happen sooner or later, ;-)

Agree but not anytime soon though FB. :)

Mr Carruthers will have to wait his turn like Caolan has. As i have said before....if it aint broke , don't try to fix it!

Drop Fleck? Are people mental? He's the best we've had since Brown... he drives forward, has a deceptive turn of pace, creates, puts his foot in... just about a total player... and the best you'll get at league 1 level...

What this signing does is provide cover... I've been really worried about when one of them (Duffy, Fleck, Coutts) misses a game but now feel we've got a bit of cover... not necessarily with him on the bench all season but I'd expect to see all four play around the same amount of games for the remainder of the season...

Think it's an excellent signing... he's the best I've seen play against us at our best.

I'm not mental I thank god everyday for Fleck.
He's short he's hard
He loves a yellow card
Rabbie Fleck
Robbie Fleck

Perhaps CW sees him as a traditional winger. Maybe Carruthers and Duffy out wide and keep the "wing backs" in a back four.

No derf, but you can try and improve it, the best teams always do, Liverpool in the 70's would win the league and the European cup and the rip half of it out the next season, and guess what? They were even better, cannot stop progress, I accept what you are saying and to a point I agree but if say we brought in a three million pound striker would you not want him to play? An exaggeration I accept but it makes my point.

What a load of rubbish that is, obviously you and Wiz weren't at Bury yesterday or if you were you were bladdered. Basham was MOM again as he was against Northampton, FFS why do you think CW picks him every game.

I thought Coutts was MoM v Northampton but didn't see the Bury game. I think there are a number of reasons Wilder picks him:-

1. His versatility gives us the flexibility to change formation mid-game without altering the personnel.
2. Wilder wants to reward his great attitude.
3. Jake Wright is less expectant of being a regular starter and less likely to make a fuss if he's on the bench.
4. He offers us an energy level that helps with the high press.

The first half at Bury showed why Carruthers is such an important signing.

If one of the regular midfielders was missing, it would be a big loss. If two of them were missing like at Bury, we're a completely different team.

Now not only are we fine if one of them is unavailable, we're OK if two of them are. And knowing our luck this is a scenario we'll have to deal with.
