According to Wilder, a reinvention is in order, and that much is increasingly clear too. The reaction to Saturday wasn't a knee-jerk at losing the first match of the season, but frustration with what seems to be a continuation of the latter part of the previous one.

He turned poor performers into star assets the first time round, he can do it again.

His formation of choice, as for as I am aware, was 4-3-3 before he came to us. 3-5-2 happened out of convenience.

So this is a new new approach?

why not?

My take on CW now is that we are to adjust to suit the opposition, so perhaps his analyists looked at Swansea and played a flat 3 in the middle which sadly backfired and we have something different lined up for boro.

We now have a number of players that seem capable of playing different starting formations - both Baldock and Stevens came from teams who played a flat back 4 - so did Egan at Brentford.

In an interview with the new piggy manager, he stated this season that he would be changing formation to suit whichever opposition they played - perhaps CW/AK are of the same opinion. We all know CW wouldn't announce this sort of thing, but he did make reference to the opposition sitting back on us at times and us getting caught - so perhaps we have a different philosophy this season.

Something tells me times are changing with how we play probably due to us not having the budget to continue to be gung-ho.

Edit: to quote the star - playing with our heads

"With Jake Wright (face) and Paul Coutts (leg) United's only absentees, Wilder must decide whether to start Ben Woodburn and Billy Sharp at the Riverside"

Bit harsh on Jake?

weve played ONE game
we dont need more than tweeking

once we get in our rythym we will be fine
As has been said on a few other posts, it isnt just one game, it may be one game this season but it was happening a lot in the second half of last season, hopefully you are right and we will find our rhythm but the rythym you refer to does seem like some time ago.

we had 1 point after 4 games 2 seasons ago , ended up with 100 points , took time to get in the groove
Ill not panic just yet

Change Of Approach?

Yes please Mr Bashar.
A bit less of Mr Sweary and a little more Mr Calm and Mellow please.
(Thanks for the offer by the way) :)

no 2 seasons are ever the same

be amazed if man city get 100 points this season

Man City are of no relevance to us.

If we play like we did through the 2nd half of last season we’ll finish in the bottom half.

I can’t see where the goals will come from at the moment to be honest.

If we are switching to a back 4 then I sincerely hope Lafferty or even Bryan are in contention to start. Enda's defending leaves a lot to be desired, and that's being polite.

But who knows how we will play yet , cant make assessments on one game

but its way to early to tell
