You definitely have some good momentum and you've got to be relentless in putting the lesser teams away. It gets a bit tricky when reality sets in and the strugglers start giving that extra 10% because they see relegation as a real thing.

2.5 ppg would be very difficult. You're talking about drawing just twice and losing just twice. A big ask, especially when you look at the next three league matches - Millwall, Sunderland and Watford.

Done a wonderful job so far though, Carrick and he definitely has some teams looking over their shoulders. I like the ingenuity that he's applying with Matt Crooks.

Not sure what it was lit a fire under Akpom, but he's really having an Indian Summer in contrast to the rest of his career. Is he a realistic transfer target to Everton? With a one year option it is very misleading when you see players billed as having only 6 months to go. Archer is a sensible arrival though not sure how he fits if Crooks is playing centre forward and Akpom just behind.

I have my doubts whether any of the chasing pack reaches 80 points from the current starting point to be honest. That's not a slight on Boro, 79 points would still be a very respectable 2ppg until the end of the season. That's not to say we can't make a pig's ear of it, but this is us fans being naturally pessimistic after years of disappointment but in recent tines, rhere isn't anything to suggest the current players will let themselves down. Taking a point whilst fighting right until the 96th minute isn't what you'd associate with a team that is about to chuck it away easily.

Our next few matches will be a good barometer - take 10 points from Stoke, Hull, Rotherham and Reading. The finish line might only require mid table form from that point onwards.

Best of luck*

Shouldn’t the boxes add up to 100% or is my maths still shit from borstal ?
Not in this case, because the second column is the chance of us finishing top 2.

In other words the chance of us finishing 2nd would be 79% - 24% = 55%.

And the missing % figure they don't show is the chance of us finishing outside the play-offs which is 100% - 79% - 19% = 2%
