Our favourite sports reporter (Samuels) is suggesting that Championship clubs are suggesting going 'nuclear' and every single one could choose to go into admin over player wages, releasing every player and resigning them on new terms. Obviously there is talk of a non-poaching agreement between all clubs in the league, but that can't be agreed with teams outside the Championship.

I can't see it happening, but there is not a lot else to talk about regarding football at the minute... so, IF it did happen, who would we poach? With the players being 'released', i'm fairly certain the U23 compensation rule would not apply?

The obvious ones would be the likes of Kalvin Phillips, Eberechi Eze, Ollie Watkins, Said Benrahma & Alexander Mitrovic - but i imagine there would be a host of clubs in for all 5 of those.

It could well happen for some players (the ones coming out of contract soon, older players with no resale value, second/third choice players) but not any with any real value due to the reason you've stated. So it's a non starter.

I think more realistically it’s the players in the championship that only have 6 months left as the finances will be scaled back. So they will be more attainable.

I can’t see us signing anyone until football starts again. It’s only a matter of time before PL clubs have the same financial problems as the rest and i don’t think we’ve paid in full for some of our existing signings.

Payment for players is usually spread out over the period of the contract although in a few cases, especially when a price has been driven down it is all paid up front, usually to alleviate cash flow problems at the selling club.

The quoted price of £18 million for mcburnie will be the maximum price spread over the life of his contract, scores x number of goals, makes y number of appearances, plays for Scotland and we retain our position in the premiership.
Seems for a change our management have their finger on the pulse unlike the old days. One of which was Dick Wragg selling Tony Currie for £275,000 as he thought at ten times what we paid for him it was a good price, or allowing Adkins to put a clause in his mates contract to automatically get an extra year if he played a certain number of games. Yep we have been caught with our trousers down, but thankfully no longer

I can't see how the pigs could go into admin. Clearly Chansiri can fund them and he's unlikely to want to relinquish control of the club to an administrator (who knows what they might dig up).

Agreed... but it would still be one of funniest things Iv ever seen if they went into admin 😍😂

Don’t see a problem with premier league clubs buying players. The money comes from TV income. Lower down the leagues the money is mainly from punters coming into the ground. Owners with deep pockets can help but FFP put a stop to this really.

We will be fine due to our current position.

Even if this season is paid in full, no football for the opening day of next season = no money, how long will any club survive?

If we finish the season. Sky will be obligated to make payments for the following season as they always have done.

Just can't see that happening, If you paid for a bag of groceries to be delivered each week you wouldn't continue paying if they stopped turning up.

They have said they will

well if they've said they will fair enough I'm surprised though
