Championship attendances

Cheap shots again. You struggle to get a ticket for the home end at Coventry. There's 26,000 STH's and the away allocation which was recently reduced to give the home support more tickets. The STH's that can't make a game put their tickets on a platform and they are resold. We can never reach our full capacity because of segregation problems.

Isn't it amazing how finishing in the top 6 for the first time in nearly 50 years has an upturn in attendances.
When you were at your lowest ebb, when the club needed you, when if you really were a supporter, your lot deserted you. That is a fact.

THey do it every game!
I doubt it but id suspect its analysed calculated and worked out within the boundaries ( ST pricing , category etc ).

They'll not get it right every game but within the restrictions they have probably get it more right than wrong .. other they need firing .

Fair weather fans those Cov lads and lasses.

Ghost town when shit.

Oh yes you should continue to give your money to owners that put you in administration just so they could cancel a contract and also take your club out of your own city twice.

Are you a happy clapper that's happy with your ownership?

I support my club. I do not abandon it when it is tough. Your lot did. It is fact. Your attendances were pathetic. I do not believe ours would be so. We are more loyal than your lot will ever be. To those who stood by you, i am genuinely pleased for them, that you are doing well.

Not saying you have shit support but I don't agree with the attendance figures when I see spare seats. You played wba other month hardly any away fans but over 29k EH

Over the last 10 to 15 years, irrespective of justifiable anger against owners, Coventry fans have shown themselves to be the biggest fairweather supporters in a lifetime.

I can't think of any club going from a few thousand to 30,000 in such a short space of time.

I would absolutely stop going to the Lane if I thought it was in the best interests of the club, as any proper supporter should.

To keep going through boycotts is to value your own entertainment over that of the club.

How is depriving the club of money in its best interests? Its not working out well at Wednesday is it? If the self appointed moral arbiters were honest they'd admit its because the team is losing, that's why they don't go. Vast majority don't care a jot who is in charge,as long as the team is winning.

26k ST holders you sure? Our highest in the PL is around 22k.

Agreed, For example over 23k in the third division and one game (Wigan) 25k in the old fourth?

If you have an nutjob owner who is running the club into the ground, you want them to sell up. One way to encourage them to sell up is to boycott games, which hits their pocket and makes clear the discontent of their customers.

Not even worth countering your remarks about those that boycott because you've just made it up.

Which club's fans have boycotted whilst their team was winning? It doesn't happen. It nearly always boils down to the team losing. That's the real reason they don't go.

Surely it's not surprising that awful owners running clubs into the ground is correlated with poor results? 🤣

Apologies, but I don't think you (or anyone) is qualified to explain the motivations of hundreds of thousands of fans that have engaged in boycotts. It tends to be selfish people that assume the motives of everyone else are selfish because you they don't do anything other than for themselves.

I don't think anyone is selfish by not attending. Completely up to the individual. Just find it disingenuous when some people cite the owners for non-attendance, as the only reason. Obviously, for some that will be true but for the vast majority its all about the results. We've had enough dodgy chairmen/directors over the years to have had numerous boycotts.

Fair enough. The only football I've ever boycotted is that Bolton game which sold out and the EFL Trophy competition after they introduced academy teams and then dishonestly kept them even after fan backlash. We've never been in the situation I'm describing (in my lifetime) and hopefully we never will.

There's a difference between a shit owner that is skint but willing to sell the club, and a shit owner who is skint and is intent on running the club into the ground. I think Chansiri fits into the latter category and I would have absolutely boycotted during the latter stages of his ownership. (What a fucking legend he is, by the way ❤️)

Watch efl highlights every week and there's only Ipswich ground which looks full regular but...

Coventry City - 29,981
Leicester City - 29,730
Derby County - 28,400
Southampton - 28,368
Ipswich Town - 28,213
Sheffield United - 27,729

Yeah they count ST holders but I highly doubt thousands buy ST to not go often.
Fair play to Derby, their crowds are consistently high wherever they are in the league…The three relegated teams are still living high on the hog from Prem attendances, Cov have always had the potential to attract bigger crowds…We, are just being us.

Yeah but with such a rapid increase in crowds, it just shows the punters have always been there…Whereas we’ve had to work hard over the last 25 years to get our crowds to this level in a two club city.
