Watch alot of games and highlights every week and it always amazes me that grounds have glaring empty seats but their recorded attendance is 28k/29k/30k plus every home game?

Im on about clubs like;
Coventry
Derby
Ipswich
Saints
Leicester

I know ST holders do count no matter but you can tell when Bramall Lane is around 25k/26k due to a "crap opposition" playing.

I know some will say "why you bothered" but I was just curious that's all because definitely Derby and Leicester do tell some 🤥 and I think clubs like that just lie to look big for their rivals.

And when there's a crap away following you know our attendance is going to drop but with other sides...

You forgot to mention Wednesday only got 23,000 on Monday against a huge Derby County with a significant away following;)

Derby had bottom tier and took 3,900. That means less than 20,000 piglets in attendance but it doesn't matter cus they sold out for Ipswich.;)

I often think the same about us.

28,000 my arse.
Our Saturday attendances are easy to predict based on away support and where we are in the league due to the numbe of season tickets we sell. Near the top and big away support 30k give or take 1k, near the top and poor away support 28k, doing poorly and big away support 27-28k, doing poorly and poor away support 25-26k

There are clearly way more empty seats than that every single game. There's nowhere near 28,000 in the ground, never mind 30,000 even with the away end full.

Why do we only get 2.5k at the Sty…Is it a SYP thing or a Wendy thing?

Not sure if clubs do lie.

Presumably they have to declare gate receipts and if there's a big discrepancy between gate money and bums on seats the clubs are paying tax on the tickets. Discrepancy will alert the tax office won't it?

Why pay tax on a gate of 29,000 when there's only 22,000 in there (ST accepted as these are treated as tickets sold)?
