Nobody has scored more goals in English football in the current era.

He's had very few minutes on the pitch this season but has scored as many as any other Blades player.

He bleeds for this club.

From what ive seen so far from the new guys there isn't a better finisher than Billy at the club.

He is deadly in front of goal.

He works his tits off.

Why isn't he starting games?
 



Simple answer: because Sir Chris Wilder doesn’t think he’s offers as much (compared to our other strikers) to the team to improve our chances of picking up points.
 
I think Mousset's pace in behind, cutting the ball back to Sharp in the box, could be our best combo.

Try it against Arsenal's car crash of a defence and see what happens.

Robinson and McBurnie just ain't working I am afraid. They appear to have no understanding, although I acknowledge that it is early days and partnerships take a while to develop.
 
For me, McGoldrick has to start when he's fit. At the moment I'd pair him with Mousset. However, if Wilder still doesn't think Mousset's fit enough then Sharp should be next in line.

McBurnie & Robinson haven't done enough to warrant their shirt.

Because he was an idiot and got sent off. Now he’s working back into the side. With performances like today he will be in CW mind to start more.

Red was a joke, Billy is no idiot. This is his time to shine - Wilder give him the chance please.

Probably for the same reason Wilder didn't start Jake Wright for ages in League One, despite everyone knowing that we were much more solid with him on the pitch.

Fuck knows.
 
I didn’t expect him to start today, but he should have been given longer than 20 minutes. Everyone who’s played football, knows you improve with age and experience. Sharp has never relied on pace, like others, so given the chance, his maturity could be a real asset and provide those much needed goals.

McBurnie needs a serious kick up the arse, trouble is he looks like he’d probably be happy to sit on the bench. He irritates me in the same way Clarke used to, jogs around the pitch and never seems to be giving it 100%. Even in the warm up and stretches before kick off, he never does anything with the same vigour and purpose as everyone else is doing. To be honest, he looks like he’s trousered his signing on fee, signed his contract and doesn’t give a fuck?

As I say Leon used to be very similar, trouble is, he was playing in League One and didn’t cost £17 million.

Robinson comes across as a bit of a daft lad, always grinning and fucking about, like a naughty schoolboy, a real joker in the pack trying a bit too hard to be popular. He wants to concentrate on his football career, knuckle down, work hard and bang some goals in. Frustratingly, I believe with the right application and guidance he could be a great player, his problem is, I reckon he already thinks he is !
 



I'm still refusing to write off Robinson and McBurnie but when Mousset and Sharp came on they both tried to make things happen. Billy put a couple of crosses in, won a couple of free kicks, Mousset muscled a bit, turned a couple of times. Nothing amazing, but they're getting involved and trying to cause some trouble for the defenders. McBurnie and Robinson...I don't see it. They aren't dropping deep and linking up well, they aren't making runs, they aren't roughing up a centre half. I don't know what they're trying to do but they look happy to sit and watch the game go by.

I'll give these players all the patience in the world but Sharp, Mousset, and McGoldrick have all shown a lot more.
 
What has he done more than Mousset? Is it because he’s a Blade? Come on Pinchy, do the rest...

Think it was only the first 4 games wasn't it, then he was pretty much a permanent fixture the rest of that season after the Oxford game when it all turned around and our rise began. But yeah was puzzling he didn't start him sooner.

There was quite a big period around Christmas where we started EEL despite him consistently being a bomb scare.

Ah yes I forgot there was that wobble, including the tonking at Walsall, then we picked up again and stopped being shakey when he came back in.
 
I remember reading that Harry Kane used to play in goal as a kid, and as a result, he likes to hit the ball early from outside the area as a striker as it was the kind of shot he himself hated facing as a goalkeeper.

When Billy came on second half, he curled a wicked ball in straight across the six-yard box that I can only imagine he would have LOVED to receive himself as an out and out goal poacher. It took me back to the days watching him playing for Robson and then Blackwell while Beattie was the first choice centre-forward. Billy was forced out wide and used to whip in some fantastic crosses that he would have absolutely smashed home had he been capable of being in two places at once. Instead, Beattie was nowhere near any of them, but he'd step up and slot in a penalty or free-kick and the crowd would respond to him like he was some sort of god.

I guess my point is that - to me at least - it's achingly obvious that at any level, Billy just gets what it takes to create and score goals. I honestly think his cross yesterday would have been read and met by two players in the squad - him and McBurnie

Christ knows why CW persists with that pairing it is totally ineffective - we always pick up when one or other is replaced by anyone

It was a stone wall red card mate. He’s been out the side for 3 games due to his own mistake. Wilder is bringing him on and he’s going to have opportunities to start. He needs to take them.

Billy will take his chances problem is Mcburnie and Robinson are getting starting chance after starting chance and not delivering watching MOTD just now the clever move that ended in the Robinson shot straight at the keeper to me is as bad as Henderson dropping the ball. He should stop gurning at the camera and knuckle down.

On the brightside at least we don't have Bamford up front.
