He looked absolute class, but tbf we were 3 0 up. If he plays like that from the start we have a new star

Fair point, but to look at it another way, at 3-0 up he was probably better than he needed to be.

He looks good, we have real strength in depth and competition for places. With chapman coming back too it means nobody in this squad is assured of their place. Losing one or two in the run in won't derail us like it has done in years gone by. I'm really confident this is the year!

He'll be a fantastic signing and could well take us to another level. I wanted another one of his quality but just the one will make a big enough difference.

He was so silky on the ball and immediately fitted in well with our other midfielders and showed that he's someone who knows exactly how to look after the ball. They're going to enjoy playing with him. And he can play anywhere - deep, advanced, central, wide.

With him here (and O'Shea) there's a lot of quality and competition in midfield and if at least three of them stay on top of their game we'll be promoted for sure.

Top player, his 20 minutes against us earlier in season were enough evidence I needed to see his ability. What's incredible is that our backward, skint, tight poorly run club managed to sign him

It felt a bit like when we signed Leon Britton but this time we've got a team and manager that can actually make proper use of him.

Looks a quality player, although not seen much of him.

Is he too good to be a sub or does he start, and if so who for? Thought our midfield was good today.

Now all we need is a decent playing surface for him and our other quality players to showcase their talents.

Anyone know if those Desso things are any good?....

But would you drop Duffy to play him ?

Wilder is man enough to make the decision if needed.

I would rest, rather than drop, Duffy, and give him a run.

Excellent question and as silverfox says it will be down to Wilder to decide based on the opposition we face.
In comparing the 2, both have excellent feet and range of passing and both try to make things happen. I think that Duffy is better at running with the ball through defenders and is comfortable in keeping the ball for long periods, sometimes perhaps too long. Carruthers on the other hand seems to want to move the ball quicker and play others in rather than be the one to get into attacking positions. All this however is based on seeing Sam play for 20 minutes in total, and I am a bit pissed so...

Both excellent players at this level, along with Fleck, (new)Coutts and O'Shea we have easily the best midfield in this league. What a change from the dogshit of recent seasons.

He looked very good in his cameo.

Let's not forget however when he came on the game was put to bed and he had free rain to apply his tricks and flicks with no consequence.

As ever let's see more of a player before a rush to judgement either way, same with Hanson.

We won today, so according to our nautical numpty, they must be magnificent.

On his day (like today) Duffy is excellent. Carruthers is very handy to have in the wings in case Duffy is having a bad day. I think he can also play the Fleck/ Coutts position. My Chezzy supporting work colleagues reckon O'shea's best position is by far and away the role Duffy is playing too. Good to have competition but I'm not entirely sure we needed to sign O Shea after already signing Carruthers especially given we have Scougall and Brookes too.

Think Carruthers can cover for Fleck/Duffy too if needed.
