Thought we'd have heard by now if he was going out on loan somewhere. I'd heard from a colleague that works at Rov'ram that he was meant to go with Lavery but it's clearly not happened (yet).

Apologies if i've missed all the news around him?! I think we desperately need him to go out and get first team football in league one, even if its just to increase his sell on value in the summer

He needs to go out on loan. He's 4th choice as it stands in a formation we don't always play. If he's staying then it makes me wonder if Brooks is likely to be out for most of the season.

I'm not suggesting we do keep him actually. I'm just not one who'll pop up with pathetic "I'll drive him there myself" comments at every opportunity as if he's Dean Fucking Hammond.

If we haven’t got a driver, I’m free

Christ - i really hope not. Is there any indication when he might be back, seems to be longer and longer

He's our only option left side midfield. Wing back? Not so sure but who knows. He has quality that Lafferty and Stevens do not have. His past manager says he is quality on the left.

Bag of tricks and quality instincts for sure. Has he the discipline?

I asked on another thread and didn't get an answer. I thought Wilder said he was back in training a week or so ago?

Out of curiosity - what has Carruthers done to deserve that level of ridicule?

I accept he hasn't played well in the Championship but I don't think he has ever offended us with the rare occasions where he has played so far this season.

I think he is a decent player but the emergence of Brooksy and the unexpected form Duffy has also harmed his chances. A 'make or break' loan period would suit everybody right now.

I was not being entirely flippant in my previous post - if Fleck gets another booking, we'll be struggling to put out a midfield for the Leicester game...

He has undoubted ability but has tended to make the wrong decisions this season when he’s played. It must be difficult when your only getting the odd 10 mins of game time here and there to get any momentum going. When given the opportunity at Preston away he faded so badly he just looked uninterested. Granted it was a poor team effort but he needed to show an awful lot more to force his way into Wilders thinking. Nothing against him but we now have better options. Decent players will always drop by the wayside as we improve. He’s just another example

Thomas and Carruthers clearly havent impressed wilder - especially wilders interviews this month, seems to have almost closed the door on both which is surprising. I can only imagine Thomas is a piss poor trainer because he's played ok whenever hes been on for us

A bit of a surprise he’s stayed really, as he’s much further down the pecking order as January ends compared to where he was at the start. His preferred role is Duffy’s, but he has also played in the more standard midfield role, and as a deep-lying midfield – he’s now behind an extra player in each. I can see him making the bench at Leicester and that’s about it to be honest. Would have been a good signing for most League 1 teams – odd that nothing has been arranged.

So he's definitely not gone. Maybe he's wanting to fight for a place (or he just doesn't want to leave George on his tod).

He turned down a move to fight for his place. Permy one. Wouldn’t take a wage cut? Wanted to fight for his place? Settled in the area?

Don’t know the reason, don’t know the club, but I know we had a deal lined up with a League One club and Carruthers said no.

Oh mate, were you at Preston?
I’m still getting flashbacks

Fortunately not at the Preston game but if we are in the business of writing off + slinging out players after 1 woeful league game then we'd also be minus Bash, JOC, Stearman, Fleck, Duffy and Sharp this season.

Add Leonard ,Holmes and Wilson to your list

While I take your point, those players have also put in good performances. Carruthers hasn't.

If he's had a bad bout of Glandular Fever i doubt we'll see him properly for the rest of the season as his energy levels will be absolutely screwed.

How do you know? I'm not asking for names.
