Carlton Palmer thinks.......

Carlton Palmer? A man made out of old clothes props and some left over foreskin. A total and utter twat. If he told me it was dark outside at midnight I’d go and check for myself, he’s as much use as tits on a fish. How he played for England is a greater mystery than the Mary Celeste.
Fucking brilliant. Spitting tea out brilliant.

Best England team I've seen is the 90 world cup team.

And they weren't that flash. The two games they played well in, v Holland and West Germany, they didn't win.

Crap v Ireland and Egypt, outplayed against Belgium and fortunate against Cameroon who were the better side for large part.

As far as I recall, Palmer was on a watching brief throughout.

Carlton Palmer should of thought a bit more before he decided to play for the pigs that's what I think!

Sadly and for awhile England will always be the bridesmaids and not the bride.

Didn't know he was I'll, what was up with him WHB?
Serious heart problems by the sounds and nearly died. While under sedation they had to use paddles on him in the night. I didn't quite catch it what the name given to the condition he has/had

Met him the once when he was still playing. Seemed a very decent bloke.
Met him several times along with quite a few other pig players (Hirst, Wilson and a couple of others I don't remember) even Hirst and Wilson thought he was a twat and told him so quite often

Bloomin ek! Glad he's better.

Carlton Palmer was a good player.

Good attitude, sort of bloke you'd want in the trenches with you. Unless you were playing for England.

He must be alright. He smokes marijuana.

Was a bit of a twat when he played for Wednesday, seem to remember a few of my mates having a bit of a run in with him in Hanrahans back in the day. Seems ok now though and spoke well to be fair.

I think he lives in Shanghai and does football punditry. Heard him a few times. Straight talker, maybe not your Neville/Carra analysis but comes over like a normal bloke.

I also would agree decent club man but not International class. Though I don’t recall any World beaters being harshly omitted at the time he was in the set up. We just weren’t a very good team back then.

I never liked him as a player, but have to admit that Deano never got a look in when he played against him.
Grudging respect I suppose.

His kid used to go to the Montessori on Psalter lane as did Waddles. They would stand at different ends of the playground when picking them up ,hated each other ,I had equal hate for both of the big time Charlie pricks.

I can remember back to the 1970 world cup final, and OK may be some rose tinted specs on but I remember that being the best England team I've seen. And 1970 Brazil eventual winners of that world cup the best team I ever watched too.

Yes he was shitting himself so much he got rid of the ball when Palmer came anywhere near.

He even pushed it through Woods legs so he didn't have to be in possession when big Carlton came along.

No need to drag Mermaids into this!

I heard the interview too, some of the points he said was

1: Confident United will make the play-offs at least. Said our team spirit is special and it reminds him of their team when he played under Atkinson for Wednesday in the early 90’s.

2: He had a dream that both Sheffield clubs will reach the play-offs and said it’s a realistic expectation.

2: He wants both Sheffield teams to be promoted, said it’s a great area that needs PL football
So said that ideally 1 would finish in the top 2 and the other goes up through the play-offs.
Said Wednesday fans won’t like this but based on what he’s seen United have more chance of top 2.
Said Wednesday can only make top 6 at best where as United could get top 2.

There was some idiot on TalkShite this morning saying Kane shouldn't be captain of England because he's a striker, although it was different in his day with Shearer because he was a leader. Later on Allardyce was asked the same question, should Kane be captain of England. His reply was 'absolutely, without a shadow of doubt'.

It was only then that I realised the first speaker had been Palmer. So, I'm not really bothered what he thinks or what he predicts, he knows nowt.

Great player was Palmer and good to hear he's over his illness. He also speaks the truth and dosnt hold anything back.

Sorry WILLIAM H BONNEY Carlton Palmer might be many things including a good guy, but a great player he was not, you had some great players around that time in a very good team but he was not one of them, as much as I love Monty for all he gave to United, he was not a great player either, both had great careers though.
