moyes gets wet spam job, having been sacked by Sunderland just 6 months ago following relegation.

if he takes them down, and we take their place in the premiership, could Clueless over in S6 take the pigs down and complete a Bladey treble?
Carlsberg don't do football seasons, but if they did........

what else could happen, realistic or not to make it even better??

Pigs missing out on a play off place is the best we can hope for with them.

We beat Wednesday in the play off final.

West Ham get relegated.

That'll do.

We get promoted automatically. I don't care what anyone else does, as much as I despise the Pigs. The only thing that could spoil that is us finishing second and, well I can't bring myself to say it...

don't worry, after 2 wins on the spin they are going to be above us by Xmas (yes actually said on pork talk!) so they will have the league stitched up by Feb and we will finish a massive 60 points behind them

Even though they would require a dramatic drop in our form, they would also have to see a huge shift in their form.
To overtake us by Xmas, they realistically would need to win every single game, while we struggle to beat any of our next 4 opponents. And there is nothing to suggest that will happen on both fronts.

They got lucky against Villa, with a wonder goal (that to be fair was a good strike but luckily sat up perfectly to just put his foot through it), and then benefitted from Villa losing Terry. My villa mate reckons they will struggle at the back without him there organising. BTW.
So despite them getting 2 wins.....they really haven’t seen a huge shift in form, and a return to the pigsty will see the pressure back on and form dip as quickly as they got it.

On Wednesday, how about 90 points in third place and losing to Leeds* at Wembley with Rhodes ballooning the 22nd penalty (you know, when they’ve run out of other takers).

*much as I don’t want Leeds to go up this is the closest equivalent, and would make it even more miserable for them.

I wish I could share your optimism. Firstly, Terry being out won't affect Villa too much. He's even more of a slow carthorse than he was at Chelsea. He's just in it for one last big payday (see Wednesday, Sheffield).

But, despite their poor start (6 wins, 5 draws, 5 losses in 16 games), the pigs are worryingly close to Fulham's record last season.

Maybe La Liga ain't that tough?

Is anyone looking at that graph and thinking :-

1. With a third of the games played we've got almost half the points required for the play-offs
2. If our overall form doesn't falter, we'll be top two

I just don't see this Blades side having a significant dip in form. Different animal to the ones we've seen before.

Villa season ticket holding colleague of mine says much as he didn't want Terry, he's been a class apart for them and they'll miss him hugely.

I don't think I'd be able to go. I honestly think I would have to watch at home with nobody else.

Even though we've got a team of winners? Even though this is a completely different Sheffield United to ever before? Even after what we did to them at Hillsborough? Even after scoring 3 on our last visit to Wembley?

I prefer to look at it as 'what if we win', not 'what if we lose'. It could be the best day in our history. Offer me it now and I'd gladly take it.

I bet you'd end up going. I don't think many wouldn't. But I do think our fans would just sit there in silence all game shitting themselves.

As ever, consistency is all. In the last half of last season (23 games), Newcastle only lost 4 games. We've lost four already, but we show signs of immediately 'bouncing back'.

Not with you rabble rousing, I could see you drunk on the pitch in a Delia Smith moment "come on Blades let's be having you".

LOL. I'd probably get thrown out in the first half after someone tells me to sit down.

Feels like this Blades team is righting a lot of wrongs of the past e.g. conceding early / late, winning a huge game and then losing the next, selling our best players etc. We're breaking records for fun too - so why not finally break our playoff hoodoo. I'm slowly losing the pessimism that built up over the past 10 years.

I've already lost that pessimism. I hope more of our fans can. You can't ignore what's right in front of you. We have something special going on.

Wow, Stoke and Hull got promoted automatically with 79 points. They must have been shit seasons. That wouldn't have even got you into the Play Offs last season. In a year where there are lots of draws the points total is low, this year looks to be like that. There are several teams who have only lost a small number of games but are drawing lots (mainly Fulham). We're yet to draw a game and that's fine by me - far rather win one, lose one than draw two.

That Stoke points total from 2007/08 is absolute proof that ANY semi competent manager would've got us promoted that season.

It gets better. David Weir is going to be joining the coaching staff at West Ham. Relegation is all but confirmed!
