What a crap draw. More excited about the JPT trip to Hartlepool

brings memorys of millers goal back to mind , very drab game but what a finish. it
still would class that as one of my best games ever , blades singing for literaly 99% if the game it was just amazing .
i think i might even book a day off work to go again and stand on there balsa wood away end :)

Joke of a draw...seeds, pre arranged home and away teams???! Seriously.

That was seriously shit to watch. Sad I know but I usually quite enjoy the draw, but only when it is a complete lottery. The excitement comes from being unsure if the next team to be pulled is Newport or Newcastle, Mansfield or Man United, etc. Who gives a fuck when home/away is already decided and you have a few mediocre teams left in the pot?

Sorry i'm probably going to piss a few off here but I am not bothered about this game what so ever and I never like to see United lose but I wouldn't lose much sleep in the long run if they did. I mean we've had two years of cracking cup runs with some unbelievable games and wins but I really, really wanna get out of this league now.

The League cup and piss pot cup i'm not bothered about at all. I'm a bit old fashioned when it comes to the F.A Cup and think we should treat it with the respect that it deserves but these sponsorship cups offer little financial incentive to us and in they just congest the fixtures with pointless midweek games that put players at risk of injury.

I agree actually. Three cup competitions with a team as injury-prone as ours is a recipe for league failure. And promotion should be our only concern.

Id seen league cup 2nd rd draw numbers this morning & I knew any of those 24 potential 2nd rd opponents all look tough games but as much as im gutted we didnt get Wednesday im Happy with fulham Away as brings back great memories when miller got the winner in 119th min & I woke all the neighbours up with my screaming

But draw was a load of crap, seeded & already pre drawn away all excitement disappeared. Although I still dont care if progress as id rather have a go at JPT out of the 3 cup competitions

For anyone thinking of going on the train; planned tube strike that day.

We have a very big squad of players.
If the team sheet that night shows 9 or 10 changes from the previous Saturday - so what.
We have the players to beat Fulham (again), and I think in the third round draw it is an effing proper draw - not this seeded/none seeded, pre-drawn crap we saw last night. Does anyone know why? Is it to appease the premier league clubs?

To keep them playing in the competition. It's the format and the European place that keeps them entering, if either went so would all the PL clubs.

Whose League Cup is it, I assume it belongs to the FA and not the Premiership?

If so why are the Premiership clubs allowed in?
Is this not the same Premiership that refused to apply the £54M fine to QPR based on the infraction/s been done outside their league?

I'm delighted. Doesn't matter if we lose, no shame in losing to a side in a higher league at their place, but a potential upset that could give us a boost.
And I can walk there.

It belongs to the Football League. However, if PL clubs weren't in it, it would be like the JPT where no-one gives a shit. People barely give a shit as it is.

I had to check who owned it and apparently from the start, in the sixties, it's been heavily criticised. It seems only the Football League ever thought it was a good idea.
That's why a number of tin-pot clubs have won it.

If they are going to do this seeded/unseeded crap to keep PL clubs in they should make all seeded teams play away from home. This will not only mean that large clubs don't have to open their ground for a small crowd (that will probably lose them money due to higher overheads for their bigger stadium). Smaller teams will also get a big team at their ground which may be an opportunity for them to make a bit of money from. I don't know if money is split like in the FA Cup but I think this would be beneficial.

Good question actually. It used to belong to the Football League, dreamt up so that the league competition could have a cup competition of their own like most other leagues in the world. Basically the competition was a big chip on northern shoulders. Since the inception of the PL, I still think it is administered by the Football League, but the status has changed with many sponsorship deals, changes in format and kids being played by many clubs. In short, the PL clubs play by invitation of the Football League, however the competition wholly relies on those PL clubs to stay in existence so they dictate how it operates.

I didn't realise there was seeding and a pre-draw for home and away, was it the same last season? If so, it passed me by completely and didn't we do well to overcome the bias.

It completely undermines the random nature of a knockout cup competition. I can see why it makes sense in a sport like tennis, where the same players are playing in tournaments week in week out and the organisers want the best players in the final, not knocking each other out in R1, but this is completely different.

I'm mad with rage!
