So why did CW buy him to play lone Striker ? !

Not sure that he has?

He has bought him as a striker, full stop.

It could be some games he’ll go with two up top (Moore and Cannon as an example)

I don’t know? Perhaps Wilder thought he could play the lone striker role? It may well be he can, but atm, he’s not showing what Campbell is showing

Being reductivist, he had a 20 game window to show his abilities & worth to us (not only for this season but glimpses of potential for next season in the PL) he’s half way through it.

If we’d paid £1m for him and bought him from Doncaster, they’d be hell to pay about what we’d got.

And if people honestly think that we’ll be playing two upfront next season in the PL, then you need to give your heads a wobble.

He’s shite and another Wilder “ buy British only” signing.
He will never learn so we got to get used to it but our owners will no doubt see this as an opportunity to oust him for a more progressive manager.
Does progressive to some people just mean 'buy more foreign players'?
There's a lot of shite abroad as well.
Also, he's Irish.

He plays for Ireland, but he was born in Liverpool and grew up in Liverpool.

That's scouse not English as well isn't it?
They play the stupid Brexit card, I'll play the daft foreign one.
For the record, I'd like every single one of our players to be from Sheffield btw.

I don’t blame cannon … it’s not his fault we paid £10 million for him … it’s not his fault he isn’t what we needed… it isn’t his fault we don’t play a style that suits him.

Yes he looks poor but there’s a reason that Moore, Campbell and Mcburnie before them have all fit in…

They fit a mould that cannon doesn’t ….

Wilder can’t be trusted with money

It’s actually amazing how Wilder does wonders with these freebie/journeymen type and makes them all so much better than our ‘big money’ signings.

There’s something in it, in the way he manages or whatever else it may be. But Cannon really is completely ineffective and it is a concern. What is he actually good at?
Finishing is what he’s good at.

For what it’s worth I do think we have overpaid for someone who is quite a limited all round player but I don’t really think he’s had enough time on the pitch to have been completely written off by so many of our fans.

I want Cannon to start on Tuesday. Coming on when we are leading and not overly pushing to attack isn't great for him ATM. Granted he's started plenty and not scored, I get that. He needs a goal, and starting is his best chance. I hope he starts, then if not leading, we can bring Campbell on. If we are leading, take Cannon off and bring Moore on. We'll need all 3 for the run in.

Doesn't really tell the true story that.

Cannon has scored 5 non-penalty goals in 2,230 minutes (446 minutes per goal)

Campbell has scored 8 non-penalty goals in 1,080 minutes (135 minutes per goal)
Penalties now don’t count.

Campbells open net chance was easier than any penalty.

Just support the team.

It appears that it was worth the £10m just to ‘rehabilitate’ Brewster (& Moore) & replace him (them) in the ‘how much,?!?, what’s he do, he’s fucking wank club’
Savage irony that a (previous) card carrying member of said fellowship got a better reception than Cannon when he came on for PNE

Don't worry, he's gonna go full Bobby Davison next week. It's his destiny.
D'Jaffo did it.
Akinbiyi too.Gwarn Tom lad. Thumb
Not entirely sure what more you wanted him to do with his time today?
He was actually belting down towards Lane end one on one with a defender when yet another pull back occurred after a Prezzie lay on the floor in our area. Free kick to us..in our area.
I did think he looked really slow with his first chase down though.

The problem with bringing Canon on was that he's entirely the wrong kind of striker for what we needed. We needed someone to hold the ball up. Which has Moore.

The main worry about Canon, for me, was a comment by a Leicester fan that he was incapable of understanding even slightly complex instructions. I see coaches showing him pictures and it rings true.

Still, early days yet. He just doesn't fit into the way we play.

Start Brewster and Canon against Wednesday. Let's see what happens

If we want to score against Bristol City without 70 Minute Gus we should start Moore instead, with Brereton and JRS. Can always bring Brewster and Campbell on if that fails

Far too early to be making judgments. I mean it’s not like we’re creating a boat load of chances for him… kids 22 ffs and people need to understand that 10 mil is the going rate for a striker of his calibre.

In fairness to him, have we created a chance for him? When he's on the pitch we seem to just want to hit the channels
When the signing was announced Wilder said “position specific…. we needed someone to play on the shoulder and stretch the game.” It’s not really happening though, for one reason or another.

Its all about whether we want to throw the dice and push 4 attackers up front to create multiple chances for a quality striker late in games OR stay solid and protect what we have once we have scored and get the 3 points.

I believe he would have more of an impact starting, probably alongside COH but Campbell is on fire so that cant happen atm.

Cannon is here for the long term and will develop along with other new signings to upgrade the squad if we do get back to the PL

He’ll be reyt, specially when Moore back to play off could be good impact duo off bench when were getting abit leggy.
