Do you think life exists on mars or bootle ?

It all hangs on January. When we get Brayford back and some others from injury hopefully we'll make top 4. If he manages to get in some better players in the transfer window without losing any key players whilst remaining in touching distance of the top 2 then we can very much go onto win the league.

Lets face reality ! These are the same old questions as last season. The answers NO! best we can hope for is playoffs the sooner we realize our capabilities the less disappointed we will be. wonder what boxer blade drinks. Must be strong stuff. let me know what that faith drink is. need to try some myself utb

Can't believe the early pacesetters will be up there at the end of the season. This year it's up for grabs but we need to improve the squad and show a bit more desire to boss games. The board should have realised by now that The Adkins effect isn't enough to turn sows ears into silk purses. If the don't back him in January I think we will be looking forward to at least another season in League 1.

If we can resolve the defensive and goodkeeper problems, then yes, we do have a chance. Its a sh1t league and a good run is always possible (if the two problems are resolved).

It only needs a good run for us to be back in the top 2, in my opinion anyway. We will only get stronger as Hammond settles in and get Brayford etc back in the squad.

Adkins has to sort that back line out though and although the front line is very strong I think we need an upgrade on Sammon for when we need to go more direct. We also need a winger who can cross

Whoever from the top 6 has the best JTW will win the league on my opinion, that's how tight I reckon it will be come January.

We need to ship 5 or 6 out to free up wages, keep hold of Che and bring in 3 or 4 quality signings.

As long as we're around 9 points or less behind the leaders then anything's possible.

However, we have failed to really look convincing bar maybe 2 games. The worst teams in this league can score past us. The 'better' teams can score hat fuls past us.

It's all ifs and buts. If we bring x player in in y position etc...

Don't get me wrong, this league is absolute shit, and we aren't much more shit than the least shit teams in this division, in fact, at our best and as the season progresses I can see us improving, and being slightly less shit on the whole than the others.

We should have it in us to push on in January. But fuck knows, the board could properly do us over by selling someone, and bringing bugger all else in.

Take it as it comes...

The Blades are going up!
The Blades are going up!
And now you're gonna believe us
And now you're gonna believe us
And now you're gonna believe US!
The Blades are going up!

In other words, it's a 'yes' from me.

No one is running away with it so whatever team can put any sort of run together is in with a great chance.

While at this precise moment, UTD don't look like putting said run of games together, funnier things have happened.

The 1 thing I have always and will always maintain is that getting promoted or winning anything you HAVE to have players in your squad who can consistently put the ball in the net. it would be great if we could stop leaking quite so many, but the point is that however good or tight you might be at the back counts for jack all if you aren't able to score.

I believe we have as good a squad of attacking players as anyone in the league. Couldn't say the same about our defensive players, at this stage unfortunately !!

What is your favourite flavour of Bostik.

We will be lucky to scrape in to the play offs this season.

I s'pose if the Big Push is gonna come in January, that means another Cup Competition is gonna be binned

This Season is worse than last ................ hmmmmmm

Highly unlikely now. I can see Wigan storming the thing now.

However, if we stay within 6-9 points of the top two come the next transfer window, I think there's a good chance we can go on a run (with investment/without sales... I won't hold my breath).

of course we can, yesterday was a blip. It's a long season with no team dominating, and come winter that big, bloated squad of ours will be pretty handy

I'm fairly confident we can still win the league, or at the very least get automatic promotion, but we have to invest wisely, and make better use of the players we have already. I don't see a place for Basham and Hammond in the same midfield.

Yeah, of course it was a blip. Do you think the genuine big hitters in this Division like Gillingham, Walsall and Burton have blips every week? That is why we can't compete on or off the field with them.

All I keep saying is look at Preston they were out of it in December and still got promoted. Then again there board kept hold of there star player joe garner. Wheras money grabbing mccabe will sell Adams and done

Weird init, the manager who chased Hammond for so long is doing just that

Weird!!

I think he is just trying it as a combo, as we have enough up top without a creative CM, or at least we should have within that front 4.

The other reason is probably down to Hammond's fitness. For the money he is being paid, he has to start unless injured but in his current condition needs a player alongside him to help with the spade work. Basham is the best candidate for that at present.

I fully expect that when Hammond is fully fit, Bash will drop to CB which (with Hammond in front of the backline) will improve us immensely. Baxter will then start as the central playmaker. Added to the front 4 I honestly think we will outscore every team we play.

I live in hope at least :(

In answer to th OP........NO!!!
Not with this team, which in essence (with the exception of Billy (good signing) Salmons (er....dont think so) and Hammond (lets wait and see) is still Cloughs team.
The defense is leaking goals. We all know what is needed here. Lets hope Nigel can bring in what is required in January. Our midfield lacks bite. We get bullied out of games far too often. We do have the firepower up front but they have to start taking the chances we have been making.
I do have faith in Adkins and only hope he gets the required backing from the board. Having said that it will be a good pointer in January to see if the board has the balls or the ambition it claims to have, to hold onto Che when Championship sides come in for him.

I think we can do it, the 2 teams that concern me the most are Wigan and Coventry because they have resources (Eg have the pulling power to get good players for this league and can afford to get them)and in the transfer window will bring in players other teams at the top now don't have that luxury.

A real worrying thought is that we have a very good manager I believe we have a good squad but we are so misfiring and players that go out on loan look better than when they are here so is it the club that is holding itself back? I don't think we have recovered from the last day of the season when 'they' went up instead of us I think we are hurting but instead of doing anything about it we are still blaming anyone who will listen.

No! We can still go up, but I cannot see us winning the league with our defence.

Like the Vicar, I'd be shocked if we won the league but you can't write off promotion yet.
NA can have two years for me, minimum. It took Grayson that long and he's as good as you'll get for taking teams out of this league.
NA appears to have been told to get rid of some before he can bring more in so, under those circumstances, two years is acceptable.
It's painful but that's how it is.

But will we strengthen in January ? Clough didn't bring in a defender and we failed in gaining promotion, he lost his job. We all thought Adkins would bring a defender in, he hasn't (yet). With our track record in the JTW, I'm not holding my breath.
