Can’t help but feel for Khadra…

“We’re in danger of losing at least one of them”.

So how do we avoid that?

We’re not in danger. We’re 10 games into the season. McAtee is playing men’s football for the first time & Khadra is playing for a move.

Both have to prove something, for different reasons, both aren’t leaving us for the above reason.

Ignore Eeyore.

I don’t recall the number of games at all. Do you happen to have a link?

If he gets injured and it’s a high percentage of games that’s he’s got to play then he’s going to miss it anyway.
TBF Bob this number of games thing was definitely mentioned, I think by The Star/Examiner/Accountant. Someone... Possibly the day before Khadra actually signed. But it was never mentioned again.

My take on this, overall, is Khadra has to earn his place in the team like anyone else. A winning team is not easy to get into, particularly if you're not seen as pulling your weight (for example).

Khadra signed less than two months ago. We're top of the league. There are 36 games left.

And he’s played 6 from 11, he’d hardly massively behind the curve. He’s going to be an impact sub and I’d be shocked if he’s not made over 25 appearances by the end of the season.

Enjoyed that.
Might finally be time to replace Roy Cropper.

As for the non-playing lads, Khadra seemed pretty cut up about his lack of game time in his post-match interview recently. McAtee is barely getting minutes.
I don't think it's beyond the realms of possibility that they'd be having words with their clubs / agents about finding moves which might fit their development stages a little better...
But if you don't, that's fine.

So now it appears that we have ourselves a loan player with contractual limitations then??

I remember the deal being labelled as a ‘loan with the obligation to buy’ should certain criteria be met?

So do we now assume that the deal includes some sort of appearance clause? And that we don’t want to hit that clause prematurely as it would trigger an obligation to buy the player permanently?

Mega ball ache if this the case and poor business.
Be a real shame if that is the case and PH is activity trying to avoid playing him as a result

It would possibly mean that the agreed fee to be triggered is a serious one - 6m or something like that

So maybe PH is saving him for the business end..... but he needs to make sure he's still here for the business end first

Such clauses in loan deals should surely be avoided. It barely ever helps anybody

No matter what clauses are in there we wouldn't be buying him till the end of his loan

Its possible he's not getting picked because the teams top of the league and others are ahead of him

Its fucking September !

Giving sharp a few minutes was probably the right thing to do, he's got to get match fit, and nobody has a crystal ball, any one of the forwards can take a knock and we'll be needing Billy then won't we..

The game was being played in thier half and I don't think that kadras pace would have been a factor with no space to exploit..

It's an obligation to buy, should we be promoted and he plays a certain number of minutes.
So I doubt PH, at this stage of the season, feels pressured in any way by that clause.

Only Sheffield United, Reda Khadra and Brighton know what’s in his contract. Everything else is speculation.

I have it on good authority that he has to play a certain amount by the 25th December..........it's called a Santa clause

Don’t want to detract from another quality win and another huge leap forward, but I can’t help but feel for the lad.

He comes on late midweek and scores, bagging us all three points in an otherwise frustrating fixture. He then spends the whole today sat in the stands……

Just seen the expression on his face as Billy stands poised to come on as sub…I get he’s the goat, our captain, our hero and all that. But at 2-0 up, does he deserve to walk on that pitch over Khadra??

I know this decision will be supported by Billy’s ability to hold up play in the final third and all that….but Hecky always talks about winning the shirt?? Billy’s done nowt to warrant that over Khadra…. Can’t be good for the lads morale??
This is a young player at the early part of his career. He is employed by a PL club, presumably on high wages, and now is with a top Championship club.
It is all part of his learning curve so I don’t see why anyone should feel sorry for him: I bet he doesn’t !
If at the end of the season he has barely played then he may be disgruntled but he will be able to move on or back to Germany to continue a rewarding career.

Khadra is better than Brewster, so I reckon should be starting. But we're winning, so not complaining too much......

Ok so can't play LWB, but can certainly play RWB. Unfortunate that he's got Bogle and Baldock ahead of him in that position.

His crossing from deep was 9/10 exactly in the right spot (not so much the corner tho)

For someone so quick without the ball, he's unbelievably slow with it and seemed scared to just bomb up the wing, beat a man and whip a cross in, always looking to cut inside or cross from deep instead

Sign attacking forward

Play at wing back

That’s hecky ball ……

Played fine, would like to see him come straight down the middle, but playing out wide he was fine.

With Berge going down with an inouccuous looking knee-injury it might be his time to show what he's got in that role over an extended period of games.
We always expected an injury to present McAtee or Khadra an opportunity eventually. I just hope it's not too long of a lay-off.

He's going to get a run now, isn't he?

It was always going to be a long season and each player would have their chance.

I think if he ends up slotting in for Sander it would seem the seas have parted for him at the right time.

He's been edging into the team. Now he'll be on for another start.

I'm quite impressed with the way in which he gets his crosses in. Even when there is a defender still blocking, he manages to bend them around and away from goal.

We have options that other teams envy. It's just down to the players to take them. Whilst unfortunate McBurnie is suspended and Berge apparently out for a bit, we at least we're up to strength in this area.

You've got probably Sharp up top against Stoke but with Brewster and Jebbo in reserve and you'll probably have Khadra and N'Diaye in support with McAtee probably being afforded more and more minutes.

Main concern now is centre mid.

Dropping Berge back was always the option. What is it now?

You start with Norwood and Doyle. And then? Berge, Fleck, Osborn, Coulibaly all out. What a pity about Coulibaly. This would be ideal for him.

Whilst I thought robbiez666 idea was a bit too radical I do now take the point on Arblaster. I think we have to start blooding him if Hecky believes in him, possibly even giving Brooks, Peck or Maguire some minutes.

We have nobody else. We're already playing a formation which requires the lowest number of central midfielders as it is!

This is where Hecky and the model we have in place kicks in. Other managers would be hitting up Transfermarkt and seeing if Drinkwater could do a job until Christmas, if ex Cardiff Bacuna who had been training with Birmingham could come in and 'do a job'.

At some point one of these lads will need to step forward.

I also wonder whether we can recall Neal. Who would seem a better option, purely on the basis he's been playing league football.

I think we cannot.

If he was playing non league I believe we could. Otherwise in the EFL, if I'm not mistaken it's window to window.

I like this lad. He's got pace, determination and will take defenders on.
