Calvert - Lewin

It does help when he is coached by one of the all time great managers. Ancelotti has taken him to the next level compared to previous managers. E.g record under Silva : Games: 48 , Starts: 27, Sub : 21, Goals: 9, Assists: 2, Minutes per goal: 273.
Under Ancelotti: Games: 22, Starts: 21, Sub: 1, Goals: 12, Assists: 1, Minutes per goal: 139.

I think more Duncan Ferguson coaching influence than Ancelotti.

One thing that has been noticeable about his game has been his ability in the air. In the headed goals he scored this season his timing and the height he reaches in his leap have been terrific. Fair play to him and hope he continues to do well.
For us it would be nice to have someone with that spring. We don't seem to be threatening enough from corners at present.

I don’t understand, why did he leave us ? Why would anyone want to leave Sheffield United ? Heartbreaking what’s happened to him since with all that money and success. Yet another off our conveyor belt who we won’t get back .

I watched him a couple of times when he was here and i thought we'd had Everton's pants down. Shows what i know.

How much money will we receive should Everton Sell Calvert - Lewin?

I presume there is a sell on clause?

To be fair Everton deserve a lot of credit for his development.

It just shows the damage of dropping to league one.

Sold Dom, Rammers and Che

Sold Brooks in the Championship

All would have a good chance of now hitting the first XI.

But ends justify the means.

Premiership - not sold a single player we wanted to keep.

Easy to look back in hindsight but to get out of league one, we needed 30 goals from Billy and a few from Leon. Banking on a young kid 4 years ago wouldn't have made sense at all.

Good luck to him. Be nice if we got him back one day but Everton's resources are well beyond us now.

Interview with Unsworth the other day saying he couldn't believe how cheaply Everton got him.

Unsworth obviously knew about him playing for us and when he went to Evertons academy he recommended they bought him. Said he'd never seen as athetic a centre forward with his prodigious leaping capability. £1.5m was laughable at the time (unless there's a massive sell on clause) as its not that long ago and we sold him to a premiership team.

Preferred Leon and billy.. CW said he’d go on to play for Newport county at best! That’s the truth

It’s a funny old game

We've always been good at giving away good players

Yeah but in an alternate universe Blackwell would still be manager. We'd still be fannying around 433, and he'd have Ramsdale on the left up top, Che in defence and Calvert-Lewin in goal.

Ramsdale on the wing represents progress from Jordan Stewart. T’old Blackie has learned from his twelve years in charge. 👍

I wonder if , after a few years of them chuffing about , we will see a DCL type of improvement in McBurnie & Mousset ?
DCL is possibly the most athletic player in the whole league. McBurnie is gojng to have to do it his own way

At what point did Unsworth become such a smug twat?

He's starting to sound like Tim Sherwood with his 'I gave Harry Kane his big break' routine.

Yes, we were in the shit financially. A player you knew was signed by your current employees. Well done. Whether it was 900k or 1.5m makes no odds. It was enough to help finance the deals that got us out if the division.

When you sell him to a bigger club, I hope you're just as smug handing over our 10, 15, 20% share of 80m. It will come in handy to put in the kitty so the next time Everton come knocking we can tell them to fuck right off!

He's doing great. Particularly liked it after Vardy scored against us and the Pigs were so giddy, along comes Dom and stucks 2 in against them!

But Dave, get another tune, mate.

And when Unsworth left us to go to Wigan, DCL was nine years old.

He was an academy coach with us after that though, left in 2013.
I’d completely forgotten about that. Apparently he was also Chris Morgan’s assistant during his brief spell as manager. I have no recollection of this at all. Not that I particularly want to remember that period in our history.

looking from my seat in the South Stand and seeing Morgan and Unsworth together on the touchline got me thinking "Has there ever been a manager and assistant who had broader shoulders than this pair?" Maybe Thompson and Barron in 1998?
