Really pleased, genuinely thought he would be out of reach for us. I live close to Preston and their fans rate him highly. At under 10 million, this is a great buy and makes perfect sense.

I think its been slightly unfortunate that we've been chasing Neal Maupay for weeks and the Robinson deal suddenly happens (no doubt also taken weeks) but hasn't made the headlines and it Maupay is probably the higher profile player. However, I think he could prove to be a good signing and the way the PNE fans talk about him is very reassuring. I'd still love MAupay but it would be heroic to literally be the only team in the Prem and the Championship with no foreign players other than the Irish lads!

Who knows whether Robinson is instead of Maupay or maybe as well as.

At the end of last season the missus (season ticket holder as well) asked me who I’d realistically like to sign. After rubbing out her shopping list on the chalkboard I wrote “Callum Robinson” so for me this is a fantastic signing. It’s also given me the opportunity to now wipe his name off and replace it with “black forest gateau “
