Having a very quick look at a transfermarkt.

Wrexham will have spent by the end of this window 40m in euros.
Last season they ended up spending 39m in euros.

This is just fees. That is parachute payment type money being chucked about, without any sales.

I know they have good backers but how are they managing to navigate the spending rules?
Because their income is gargantuan by Champ standards. Sponsors, TV money, owners funding. Financially, they're practically a PL Club.

Because the new rules (SCR = Squad Cost Ratio) mean you can spend 85% of your income on players, etc., and they have huge income from their TV shows, merchandise sales, and stuff like that.

I just don’t get how we’re still discussing names. Targets should be lined up.
because the club think we are all mongs and believe the hype... we tried, to be fair if they try as hard as the players any wonder we are where we are

Do you honestly think the stuff that's getting out into the press it's a live feed from the recruitment teams PC screens?

It's all bollocks, just to play the algorithm pantomime on one of the busiest days in the footballing calendar.

Obviously players are lined up. There's an A,B,C - Z list drawn up. Every one of those will have contingent elements at play. Every contingent will take time to play out. The 'we just missed out' is a real thing, not just a convenient excuse. The fact that we missed out because we couldn't find another million down the back of the sofa is beside the point. So many moving parts have to align and doing it on a budget means the finesse needed to align them is that much greater.

Will be interesting to see what reception he gets when he returns with Wrexham. I personally think k he owes us nothing as a free and tried his best. Dud well, especially last season.

Whether he engineered the move or not im not sure. He's a good player, definitely. Will be missed but I don't think he ever bonded with the fans as a favorite. A busy player bug not one that lit up the Lane, or scored screamers, or hard as nails etc, not that you'd ever expect the latter from an attacking mud. Shame he had to join Wrexham.

Especially the interview when he says all the usual crap about how joining Wrexham was his dream etc!

I have a feeling there owners will have put in the max amount of money they can under SCR. £15m.

I’d also be interested to see if image rights are being sold to players separately to their actual contracts. I.e Disney pay them as a second income, due to tv appearances. Needs investigating.

If it’s a £40 million spend on top of a rough estimate of a £18m wage bill. You’re talking £72m gross income for SCR compliance. Which even with sponsors I find perplexing, something clever is being done.

His little claps and turns to the crowd, when being subbed, always felt very performative, lacked sincerity. We were a job for him.

Agree with a lot of that. I will add though that he pressed and harried more than any player in the squad, and was probably the only player who could keep a sustained pace for a full match. If nothing else we will miss his energy, as we watch Rothwell, Blaster, Philips and Jairo all struggle to do more than 60 minutes.

Why are we selling our current best player, in his prime and in form, our current number 10, our player of the year, and to a divisional rival for approximately £7m. What the f**k are we doing?! Only £7m. How the hell have we squandered the strong hand there? Inept fucks. Bettis and the owners, useless. We should be firmly saying "pay over the odds, or piss off".

£7M profit though. If we'd paid £6M and sold for £13M would that be better?

Its done. All down to the owner's, not Wilder, not Bettis, they have the last say, vent your anger on them. No point moaning any more, he has gone, end of.
The big concern now, can we get anybody at all in today????

We won’t get anybody in, and they’ll say they didn’t have time to bring someone in. Same old excuses.

They could have prepared by already lining somebody up knowing that teams were interested in CO’H, you know, like functioning clubs do…

Been out spent by Lincoln, even they have spent £8m. We’re up £25m in transfers, this season.

The last year of parachute payment is roughly £18m, take into account the 14 players that left, the wage bill will also be much lower. Looking at those numbers Selling O’Hare just makes zero sense, it’s austerity on steroids. Something big is coming in the background, I’m not comfortable with it.

We’ve raised more on sales than we would have got parachute payments last year.

We only get two years of parachute payments
We have raised enough now to be under scr from what im told

It shouldn't even rely on known interest. A well run club would have players identified in each position in case of injury or sale. Isn't that what Brighton do? Sell a player and have a series of replacements identified and ranked to work through?

Our replacement strategy is at best, players we've had or been interested in in the last 10 years.

What is our scouting network and recruitment strategy?
