Calling all Senior Blades

I love this thread. Great memories when my hard drive was barely used and absorbed just about everything.

I too cut out the football teams from the Typhoo tea quarter pound boxes and sent them off.
The picture from the OP hung proudly on my bedroom wall. I recall also getting a very small Typhoo red and white rosette with it as well.
By the pic, I had 3 rosettes pinned to each other which hung vertically, a large Yorkshire cricket rosette, a smaller Blades rosette with a silver FA cup in the middle and then the typhoo one.

It's daft I can remember all this detail today, but can't remember what I had for breakfast. :)

UTB.
I really missed out on all this. We drank Rington's Tea in our house. Still do !

My granny drank Ringtons until she re-married and preferred Hornimans.

I drank Brooke Bond - the one in the green packet with an orange label and stamp on it. You got picture cards with that.

The photo is a bit before my time but I recognise a few players like Hodgy, Badger, Woodward and Davitt.

I became a Senior Blade this week btw! Cheap season tickets for me from now on! Still too young for a bus pass though! Mores the pity! The day I get cheap bus and rail travel in particular, I’ll be off exploring every day!

Earlier this week someone posted asking for images of the old Bramall Lane end. I thought of this photo but didn't realise this thread existed plus I wasn't sure if the photo was on the 'old photos for no reason thread...'

I collected the Typhoo tea vouchers and have all the team ones plus some individual players. Can't recall how many 'sides of packets' you needed to get a photo but we must have drunk a lot of bloody tea. Not sure if my mum enlisted the help of neighbours.

The old Bramall Lane end always reminded me of Leed's 'Scratching Shed.'

The white-painted brick structure in the top right corner (with what looks like a bird flying from it's roof) is the bog. If you got into the ground late for big games sometimes you got stuck behind it trying to get a view of half of the pitch. No refunds - but at least you could have a piss without having to let it run over your shoes.

An interesting day for a then 11 year old - got to school, looked out of the window for about four hours because staff were trying to make sure that all the little bastards were out of danger. One thing sticks in the memory above all - the fattest boy in the school (must have been fifteen stone) being blown across the school yard like a leaf in a breeze, must have been his high wind resistance. Not a good day.

Welcome aboard.
Does anyone on here go to any of the clubs Senior Blades events, monthly dinners aren't they ?
Curious for any thoughts on them, which incidentally was how I found this thread by searching for Senior Blades.

Remember the great gale so well, we lost our garden shed, loads of new houses up by Sandygate golf course lost their roofs it just ripped the lot off.
Mum walked us to school as there was all sorts of shit still flying around and debris was all over the place.

I've never been to a senior Blades do, but I am scheduled to be part of the entertainment at the 13th Feb meeting, when Anston Male Voice Choir will perform.
