C.W. next England manager?

It has been mentioned today in the press that our Chris could be the next England manager .Obviously he has attracted attention having done a fabulous job with the Blades and i think we will have to get used to him being mentioned every time a job is on offer.Not that the England job is vacant but sooner or later it will be.To be truthful I do not think it would be right for him,I know I do not want him to go but I really do not think he is a good fit for the job.He is far to straight and honest for the job and the one thing that the gods in the F A want is a yes man.Also he could well deflate some ego's that some players certainly have.So Crissy you stay with us mate where you are well loved ,you are already a legend here sunshine and long may it continue.Can not see you doing those match interviews after a game biting your tongue mate and keeping to the script.That's why Cloughie never got the job.Plus you are Northern and you do not have an italian name mate.

Seriously though I'm not sure how Wilder would feel about managing players that might have big egos, self entitlement and not always giving 100% to the cause. Not saying the current England team are full of the aforementioned traits but you're bound to come across them at some point as the majority of England internationals will be from the biggest PL clubs.

I can see why it would be an ambition, but given the squad available to him Southgate should be around for a while, and I think Eddie Howe is probably next in line.
There is also the lack of coaching aspect. You get very little time with players to develop new systems or adopt them to yours. Would that suit CW, or satisfy him professionally?

On the flip side, it would be a way he could leave us without too much animosity, goto England, and then go back into league football at a top club.

I agree with that.I feel you have got to be more of a politician than a football coach.You know the type.waffle on for a hour and say now't.

Not saying he would but what if they're already established before he is appointed and he doesn't like them? Or some players that haven't been called up before and are performing outstandingly well in their respective league but CW for one reason or another doesn't want to select them? Can you imagine what the media would be like all the time calling out his authority or undermining his decisions in one way or another? The English press can be notorious when it comes to the sitting England manager. On the other hand this may not intimidate Wilder but as I said earlier I'm not sure how he would feel about going into international management.

As for the types of player he would like, who's to say they'll exist in whatever position he needs at that time and/or be good enough to be called up? What I'm trying to articulate here is that the pool of players to choose from for international football is a lot smaller than being the manager of a team in the domestic leagues where he can sign any nationality from any league in any country around the world.

Cant see him wanting a job where you do nowt for 90% of the time. Hes relatively young and totally involved in every aspect of the club, just cant see him wanting to sit back and turn up in a nice blazer every couple of months for a usually pointless match. England is a job for old men who want the status of managing a national side and unemployable yes men.

That's the problem all England managers have. Look at the destruction Taylor got from the press and therefore the public when he picked his type of player. The team picks itself pretty much as few managers will go against what the tabloids feel should be the team. They then have to work with those players who may or may not fit into the system. So I would recomend that CW stays with us where he is the overeaching decider.

Not a chance CW gets the England job even if he leads us into Europe season after season.

The dinosaurs at the FA, above everything else, want a yes man in the role and CW will never be that man.

Martin O'Neill when he was at the peak of his achievements was interviewed for the role and was probably the perfect candidate at the time but lost out as he point blank refused to tow the company line and wanted total control and do things his way.

Wilder wouldn’t be able to get an England team to play with the high level of intensity he demands when he only has a few international breaks in which to do it and a dozen multimillionaires to try and get to buy into it.

His success is built on repetition, day after day, week after week, discipline and a strong team bond, where everyone knows their own role in any given situation as well as that of their teammates. That sort of understanding, passion and belief can only be nurtured at club level, thankfully
