I just posted this in another thread but it's worth repeating here!

6th place last year, (Preston) finished on 74 points. We would have to win 7 of the last 8 to equal that. We all know that aint gonna happen so as far as I am concerned it doesn't matter if we win lose or draw at Cardiff we aren't going to be involved in the play-offs this season.

Interestingly third-bottom last year, (Norwich) went down with 46 points. The Pigs are already on 40 and Palace are on 39 so presuming Plymouth and Posh have too much to make up the third bottom club could well be relegated with over 50 points this season!

We have 4 home games remaining so if we won all of those (I don't think we will) you're looking at 12 points plus a couple of draws away (as you predicted) which puts us on a total of 14 points from the remaining games. That puts us on 67 points at the end of the season. No team has EVER got into the playoffs on 67 points from memory.

I'm pretty sure you're right.

Even in the Robson season (when the points total required was considered very very low) 70 points were needed to get a play off position.

I believe that if you go into administration after March 31st the points deduction is applied to the following season.

You had me a bit worried Toronto but this article about Southampton from last year suggests that the ten point deduction would be applied this season, unless Cardiff were relegated.

Maybe this could work in our favour, Cardiff go up in the playoff go into administration, the premier league don't like it so relegated them and the premier league because they love us and McCabe, so promote us out of the goodness of there heart. Ha ha ha ha ha

Actually, I think I have much better days as an optimist. I always have something to look forward to, a delicious possibility that I can enjoy. You, you're just miserable and depressed all the time, because you expect nothing other than disaster. Even when it turns out alright, you are thinking of how it can go wrong from there. Feck that matey. Life is one long toil and struggle, then you die. You are going to lose the war, so why not enjoy the battles you win along the way?

Anyway, until the game is played and the result is known, anything can happen. Look at Leeds in self destruct mode. Who would have predicted that? What about Hull losing two goals and the game in injury time to Pompey? What about Peterborough going 4-4 after being 0-4 at half time. Open your mind and free yourself from the chains and shackells of negativity.

Now, on another subject, i've got to organise a big BBQ for the whole family in May. Anyone know the Play-off final date? I don't want to clash, just in case we have to be there..!

There playoff date is normally bank Holiday monday, this year the bank holiday is 31st May which seems an awful long time after the 2nd. Last year we played on the 25th which was 3 weeks after end of season.

Im gutted,our season will be over by 9.45pm tommorow night,I hope im proved wrong but with our dismal away record I cant see us getting anything tommorow night and we need a win.

If they did it, then we could do it. I'm not talking about the chances of it happening. You need a bookmaker for that, but they have shown it is possible to come back from a 4-0 against Cardiff, heven't they? Football is a funny game and lightening can strike twice...

Just been on and according to the FA website, the semi's both finish on the 8th and the final is on May 22nd, the same day as the Champions League Final. The Div1 and 2 finals are the following weekend. I'm not confident enough to book my hotel, but I won't call the grand Disorderly BBQ for that day either. In fact I'm going to call it for May 15th, the weekend before, so I can do a bit of piggy baiting when the other side of the family come round. Lets hope we've put them where they belong, in Div 1...
