Has there actually been any evidence of a bust up or is it just as likely that he's been shit in training.

Recent signings from Walsall certainly haven't been successful with brandy and his amazing discipline and Cuvelier getting injured long term not long into his move to us.

Probably best for butler to go elsewhere on loan and try to get some form

You forgot Daryl Westlake as well.

I think we should stop shopping at Walsall.

They're one of those none descript clubs, nothing to shout about, no history to speak of, never won anything. Didn't someone on here (or previous message board ;)) have their car broken into or vandalised in their car park when we played there a few seasons ago, Merson was manager ?

Back to the point, it was a strange signing if he wasn't going to feature in the 1st team but then again these things happen, some faces just don't fit.

Scores a few goals though from corners though.

Joins Walsall on a one-month loan.

And then some silly beggar will try to tell us there's no money for signings, we've got money to burn !!!;)

could all add up to a substantial 225k bid for a million pound premiership star

One month?

They must have raided the kiddies piggy-bank...

From what I've heard in interviews etc. Clough said that he's not been performing in training and not quite at the level we're hoping for at the moment. I recon Cloughies made it clear that he's not going to be a starter and Butlers wanted regular football.

What the point of signing him up in the first place.

I knew he would go back to Walsall eventually.

The signs were there once he was dropped after the Mansfield match.

If he goes back i would demand his signing on fee back just like Briton.

I keep thinking that myself, but i have come to the conclusion that after Clough signed him,he saw someone who he thought was better in McGahey and signed him to play instead,or perhaps after a while,he has realised he made a mistake in signing him and this is his way of telling us he made a mistake by getting rid(atleast for a while anyway)until like someone has said he tears the contract up.

This guy was club captain at Walsall which suggests he is both influential and has strong opinions. He was also quite probably the first name on the team sheet there -"big fish, little pond syndrome". I think its possible that may be the reason he never fitted especially if he came out with bertie big bollox stuff like "we did it this way at Walsall" etc. Or as wizadry says McGahey was simply better than him although 13 years his junior.

His commitment to United was hugely questionable and though NC publicly said he could do what he wants on his day off that to me spoke volumes and I bet NC was privately livid about that trip to Walsall. Was it to have a chat about going back I wonder?

Whatever the situation he is not the sort of player you want hanging around if he is disgruntled - and NC is big on attitude - best got rid of and put down to experience ( ie try before you buy - loan with an option to buy and never ever shop at Walsall :p).

I may be wrong and he may come back and be voted player of the year but I rather suspect both sides are looking for the exit door on this one.

Whatever is going on in private, he says the right things here: http://www.southyorkshiretimes.co.u...ld-united-butler-breaks-his-silence-1-6836478

I'm sure they've had a falling out but from what he says and the fact it's only a month loan, i'd suggest there's some way back for him. Maybe he turned up with the wrong attitude, but there's nothing like sending him back to Walsall (smaller ground, fewer fans, worse players and facillities) to remind him of the opportunity he's got with us. He might come back with a new attitude.

And yep, bet Clough was fuming about him going to Walsall. You don't do that when another club is paying your wages if your new club has a game.

bit gutted if he goes back, probably is a good player really and we could do with the defensive cover. could be a replacement for Collins if given a chance

They've asked to extend the loan.

What the point of signing him up in the first place.

You should be pleased that we have a management team that is brave enough to make these sort of decisions about Butler/Collins/Doyle etc.

Everyone has good intentions and am sure the management team thought Butler would add experience - but not everything in every garden is rosy.

NC is paid to get results - and things just seem to be tipping in his direction at present, so perhaps his judgement is about to be justified.
