Looks like they found him a hard working player with limited technical ability.

Now hes signed for us then he's become even worse!

Kind of like the polar opposite of when a player leaves us.

Surprising signing to be fair - albeit on a short term contract. I recall him looking really poor against us. Hope he proves me wrong.

Doesn't matter if he's shit, there's very little to lose with this deal for us, and for him. The least we're getting is a tall versatile back up player who'll be giving it everything.

We have to pay him though if he turns out shit, hopefully his trial was long enough to see that he has something to offer.

Can't say I really remember him being particullary shit, or good, or even at all.

I suspect he will be being paid next to nothing to be injury cover so fair enough i supose

My opinion is that we are running with a small tight squad and are in danger of plumping it up with poor players...... There is a professional reason why out of contract players are out of contract.

3 month contract so i guess if CW thinks its worth a punt then its good enough for me.

If it's a 3 month contract then my guess is that's cover for Basham/Fleck since both are prone to suspension and one hasn't quite been fit yet.

With no loan market this is, unfortunately, the standard of cover available. If Wilder thinks he's more ready and able than some of our youth, that's also not a great sign. Provided this is a real 3 month contract and not a Hammond contract, I don't see much issue.

Ricky agree . A blades win win situation . Nothing to lose , everything to gain . The fella will be playing out of his skin to be awarded a extended contract from January to the end of the season .

No good , no go after January . Astute Wilder business and may be same with the other lad.

Wonder if Brown playing at BL, in front of biggish crowds, playing with one or two better players may just raise his game and sort of fit in?

I'm looking for straws to clutch, someone please help me

But what car does he drive ? I see you put a clue in there :)

Its short term so we cant lose & gets bodies in. But bury were accurate about hussey

Back in Early summer when Mc Gahey and Kennedy were surplus to requirements I wondered why not keep one or both as back up. Tel never let us down but seemed unable to play a full season and Mc Gahey showed potential. Is Brown really armich better? Maybe so, maybe it's to do with money, but.......

If it works out though I'll be the first with :
Der Der De de de de derr derr, De de de derr derr, De de de derr derr derr derr... REECE

I suppose it's a lose-lose if Freeman gets injured and Brown ends up being shit. With the U23s doing so well, what's wrong with promoting one of those as cover ??

I tend to agree this is win win but with one negative comment.

Clearly Freeman is undisputed right back or right wing back. Wilder doesn't want to move Basham if Freeman drops a bottle of milk on his foot the morning of the game. I'm comfortable with this.

My one negative - what does he bring that Ben Whiteman doesn't?

You mean to tell me that Bury FC have a forum?.....Tell me, do all 2990 fans that attendance their last home game use it?

Similar remarks made by Oxford fans about Jake Wright, sometimes things just click. Good bit of business, provided that he doesn't prove utterly inadequate if Freeman is out for a few weeks.

Wilders had a look at him, so there must be something there.

Maybe playing at Gigg Lane in front of 4000 wasnt that stimulating .must be a bit soul destroying for a footballer doing a good tackle and its met with an eerie silence

As others have said we don't have too much to lose here with the short term contract.

I doubt he will be starting too many games, unless of injury/someone turns shit.

I haven't read the "view" part yet, sometimes I don't when we sign a player because I'll make my mind up when I see em play, I will say though that this is exactly the type of players we need to go after, people who are fighting to save a career which is stalling or floundering, they've got a second chance, let's hope they grab it with both hands...

The Sheffield United number 2's R Brown.

Can't miss this opportunity, surely!

If he's shit you can't say we weren't warned :D

Well Whiteman is a midfielder and he's a defender for a start.

Seems like a bit of a no-brainer this one.

Steady on trial, 3 month contract, add a bit of depth. If he's useless, don't renew his contract, if he's decent - we've basically had him on an extended trial and given ourselves a chance to have a prolonged look at him.

Depth in the squad, back up player, presumably cheap, and eager to impress.

That'll do me.
