Bury - a taste of things to come

Sorry Pinchoccio but you don't half talk some absolute bollocks on this forum.

I've sat back and read your comments again and again. For a (short) while I thought "you know what, fair enough, he can say what he wants, it's the point of the forum".

After that though, it quickly dawned how downright arrogant and rude you are to other members of this forum.

It would possibly be justified if you were ever right, but you're taking a stab in the dark just as much as the rest of us mere mortals - do I need to bring up the legendary "Weir'll certainly be top 2" comment?

Maybe it's just me but I do wish you would please chill out and stop attacking other contributors - this "Bladesfans' Way" thing that you take so much obnoxious pride in needs to be parked. You come across like a first class bell end.

Other than the above, I appreciate your input.

Yes. Thank you. When I need advice on football, or how to express myself, from a wet behind the ears novice I'll bear you in mind.

I'll stop telling other contributors they are talking bollocks....

....when they stop talking bollocks.

All I've seen you do is speak absolute nonsense on a few occasions.

I also read from another thread you lectured people about how Weir would have us in the top two?

How did that go?

Quit while you're behind mate. You're out of your class.
Could I like this twice?

If you were a sycophantic numpty, yes. I'm just not sure whether you are a sycophant. The second part is well established...

I'm out of my class?

If you mean your class, then yes, you're damn right, I'm certainly out of your class.

Remedial, I think yours is called.

Frankly, you are becoming a little tiresome. I imagine you a refugee from the Teenage Illiterate Lager Drinkers forum?

You really ought to pick fights you can win.

As to remedial class, I won't embarrass you by inviting comparisons of intellectual capacity.

I seem to have picked a fight with a guy who talks complete nonsense, is blind to our quite obvious failings, has his head so far up the clubs backside that he can barely breath, and has a track record of getting things completely and utterly wrong.

As pointed out by several people this evening.

You're a trier I'll give you that. A minor irritant. A noisy little insect buzzing around my ears. I shall do my best to ignore you but may have to swat you from time to time if you persist in your futile habit of saying very little but rather loudly.

I knew exactly what would happen today.
Earlier in the week some of our fans were getting excited about going top of the League.

There was only ever going to be one outcome.
No feel good factor, no celebrating, no enjoying ourselves, no reason to believe, no reason to be confident.
Just the continued knowledge that no matter low we sink and no matter which division we are playing in there'll always be a top club like Bury or Gillingham that we cannot possibly compete with.

I simply can't believe I didn't back Bury at 3/1. We were too positive and it had defeat written all over it as per blades policy section 9.

don't take it personally Pete, I did warn you the other day about some on this forum who you may as well argue with a brick wall. or to put it in Bladesmad terms Argue with Curtis.

Obviously very disappointing today. I thought until they scored their second, we were still by far the better team and should have been leading before they scored. I don't recall them having one decent effort on goal before they scored and then when we equalised, I still thought we'd go on and win the game. Sammon had a header saved in the first half that should have gone in and Sharp skied one not long before the first goal.

Their first goal was a comedy of errors, awful defending. It looked like J-Mac got fouled from behind, however he should have released the ball much quicker, but even after that it was schoolboy defending.

Their second goal should have been closed down, the full back was allowed to carry the ball 20 yards and he's smashed one in under no pressure. He actually tried it in the first half too so we should have learnt that he fancies himself from distance.

I think by the time they scored the third, the wind had gone out of our sails and this time J-Mac shouldn't be getting so easily knocked off the ball by our nemesis, fucking Leon fucking Clarke.

Generally there were plenty of other instances of sloppy play, misplaced passes, poor decision making. Of course the ref didn't help - absolutely clueless. They should have had at least 3 sent off, he booked Soares who then proceeded to make several other bad challenges that went unpunished. Fucking Leon fucking Clarke should have been off for practically dragging Freeman to the ground and punching him on the ground for no reason at all - it was an absolute disgrace.

What I don't like on here is the singling out of players, ok there were mistakes but it was a poor TEAM performance. For me only JCR had a decent game and I've seen someone else slagging him off! What game were they watching. Even Basham who nobody seems to criticise had a fairly anonymous game, I like him but he doesn't get involved enough for me. I thought Reed had a decent first half but had about a 10 minute spell in the second before he went off where he couldn't seem to pass to a team mate.

Many of you are so fickle though, after the last game v Swindon, it was all how brilliant we were and ooh didn't J-Mac look so much better at left back, now he (and others) are useless again and lets get rid. No doubt if we win on Tuesday, it will be back to us being world beaters again. Makes me laugh.

Big problem is we are never going to be, at this level, a club that gets promoted with average journey men players, one that sneaks up almost unnoticed on the rails, Rotherham, Brentford etc might get away with it but we have a huge target on our backs as "The Big Beast" in this division and everyone is going to raise their game and plot their tactics against us.

Wendnesday, Wolves, Leeds etc were all in the same position and realised that the only way to get out of here was to overpower the opposition by buying up all the best players available for this League and even then it was still a struggle.

Think about the squads those three teams had and ask yourself how many of our current squad would have made their promotion teams... Probably Brayford and Sharp and that's it.

I am not saying we can't make the top two but it is going to be a long hard slog, and those who were saying we would be promoted before the end of March don't know what they are on about.

Clarke must love playing against us. Much as I hate him, he looked a handful as usual today and knows where the back of the net is. Sammon has pleasantly surprised me this season but lacks the threat of Clarke, who we surely could have lured to the Lane. Signing Billy showed some serious intent by the board but that was about it, a bit of a sticking plaster. At the start of last season, Bristol City showed us how to spend and assemble a promotion winning side. Still, consoled by the fact that Nige says we have good honest professionals ( what the fuck does that mean exactly ?).

Agree with a lot you say, but to state that we were by far the better side is pushing it. They were no great shakes but our performance was average at best and could best be described as Clough like. I did identify Bury as a threat before the start of the season with their impressive pushing the boat out signings, but was poo hooed by some.

I do fear it may take Adkins a few years to get us up

If the place is like this after one defeat do you honestly think if we are not promoted by the end of this season he will still be in a job? We did it with Wilson, we did it with Clough and we will do it with Adkins. Toys out the pram and away he goes at the end of one season.

That's the things. Its a shocking division but we are exactly that. A side of average joes. Those that say Walsall, Gillingham, Bury wont be above us. Why not? We are not really any better than such sides collectively or individually. We have a few ok players but as above says need likes of Brayford back (immediately captain), hopefully another centre half and a midfield leader and then Done/Adams/Harris. Even then not sure we have enough.

Sick of this division and sick of losing to sides like Bury (as much as that contradicts above) but we have not done enough to improve a wholly average and bloated squad of journeyman/ Scottish division one players. That's not just about today but fear that as it has twice this season sides can turn us over and stop us quite easily.

That's all true, Deadbat - too many 'average joes' in our team. The good news is that this is shaping up to be a distinctly average division. We've had a patchy start to the season but are 5th, with a chance to 'put things right' on Tuesday. Nobody is running away with it - so far.

It is going to take some time to unravel the damage that NA inherited from Clough. Too many 'nearly' players who will have to be moved on but, let's be honest, who - looking at that team yesterday - would want to snap many/any of them up? NA's first big test will be how he handles the loan window. There are plenty of players out there - not good enough for the Championship but would star at our level. Over to you NA.

One last point. I've just watched the Channel 5 Football League programme and there's a remarkable number of goals being scored by forwards 'bullying' defenders - Clarke on McEverley and Gray on piggie Palmer to name just two. I look at both Sammon and Sharp and don't see the same possibilities (and certainly not Done when he returns.) The two key requirements at this level are fitness and physicality.

Anything to swerve the actual issues being discussed I see.
It's an old tactic.

Questions need to be asked of the board.

Why after the three previous seasons (I'll ignore Wilsons first year) of not performing to the standards required for gaining promotion was the new manager who they appointed allowed to piss about with all that clean sheet/new start crap?

Why wasn't he taken on one side and told these are the basic problems, get it sorted because that's what you been employed to do and get it sorted for the start of the season.

Is it only the people who matter who make the decisions who can't see?

I was wondering if we we could, one day, lose a game (as all teams do) without a ridiculous episode of self-indulgent tantrum-throwing from hysterical, juvenile knee-jerkers?

It would appear not.

speaking of which Pinch.. what is this obsession with Reed all about mate?

I wonder if one day our fans would be allowed to expressed valid and reasonable criticism of the football club without being shouted down by silly, over the top numpties unable to accept even a modicum of criticism with jumping up and down with their fingers in their ears shouting "I'm not listening" and seemingly busting into tears at their computer screens.

I do hope the Teenage Illiterate Lager Drinker forum is sorted out soon.

Some people just kind of belong there...

Stay classy.

One day you might realise your world doesn't end when someone criticises the football club.

Dry your eyes.

No obsession at all, mate. I wish the lad well as I do all our players, but I try to provide a little balance when people get ludicrously starry-eyed about players simply because they are "local". The lad is a long way from ready for first-team football. He needs to learn his trade in the u-21s. Some fans do him no favours by pretending he is a great deal better than he really is.

is anyone really saying he's some kind of world beater?? he's an ok ish young lad a bit inconsistent. if he was that good we'd have sold him by now :)

As expected, your juvenile traits include the need to have the last word...

The floor is yours....

I'm afraid some do, yes.

Your analysis, however, is spot-on apart from noting that he lacks, through no fault of his own, physical attributes.

Like most of your posts seem to be, this one is drenched in unintentional irony.

I'm surprised you've not been taught irony in this class you're apparently in.

The numpty just couldn't resist, could he?...

Fly swatting over for today. I'm due on the first tee...

I bet you stomped your feet and called people numpties around the time you were telling people that Weir would have us up in the top two as well.

I bet there's some great excuse why you were so utterly wrong then too.

Have to agree with all of that!

Having read that Sammon is playing for his contract at the end of the season - My advice would be to start putting the ball in the back of the net - should have buried that header yesterday and the Blackpool miss was just RUBBISH !
Professional footballer ...............................yet to be convinced in Sammons case !
