I know tonight isn’t the best game to judge him on, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised by what I’ve seen of him tonight and in the Burnley game. He’s looked quick and strong, which I’d read when we were linked with him so was expecting that, but he’s shown some nice touches, decent control and played some intelligent passes in and around the box. He’s done a shit tonne of running all game tonight as well, suggesting he’s properly fit. Hopefully we can nurture him into the £15million player he was touted as previously.

I thought I’d get in with a positive before the inevitable (and maybe partially justified) negativity kicks off.

Yep, was going to come on here and say that. Impressed me tonight. Looked absolutely shattered but was running to the end and our best attacks went through him.

The only issue, outside of the pace, is that he seems in many ways to play in a similar role to McGoldrick. He's not an out and out striker, and it shows.

I must admit when we signed him I thought what the hell is wilder playing at but he was really good tonight and gave a really good account of himself tonight and the stand out player for us.

People keep saying that he is lightning fast but I haven’t seen much evidence of that yet? Hes not outpaced anybody that I can remember. That’s not a dig, he worked really hard, I just haven’t seen the pace that everyone else seemingly has.

Played well, and shows promise. Great amount of running, we really miss Moose and hopefully we can get this other striker in v soon.

Agree with that, he did come deep too much tonight, but I suppose a game where we’ve had a man sent off after ten minutes and are sitting deep isn’t great to judge this. If he’d have stood on his own up front he’d have ended up even more isolated.

Burke looked more dangerous than any of the other strikers we have. Has to start

Probably the only positive tonight, thought he did quite well given what he had to do on his own, clearly knackered after about 60 mins. Berge showed that he'll be good in that role, although a couple of sloppy passes, but the way he moves through the thirds with the ball is promising.

Quality?????????????

Not sure I have seen any in the 2 games I have suffered! Individual errors yes & not convincing defending so far this season, but quality from us, I have not seen any.

Any shots [not headers] on target in 2 games?

Don't think he attempted one shot tonight.. like others have said he isn't and out and out striker who's going to nail one from the edge of the box.. apart from that he put in a solid shift.

Only player on the pitch for us that gave a fuck. Everyone, not just a few but EVERYBODY BAR Burke constantly ball watching. I’ve never seen so much time and space on the ball. He pressed Villa’s defence from start to finish. Can’t really fault him because he’s the only player putting in genuine effort.

Burke is not a striker, his good work bits were all when he went wide. Better than I expected but he wasn't comfortable in the middle. STRIKERS required.

He works his arse off and is a menace. He needs to stop tripping over though.

I think he will do well once he has settled.
