Burke and Brown confirmed on trial

Anyone know if a triallist can be 'temporarily' registered in order to actually play in a league game?

Not certain, but don't think they can. You could get round it by giving them a contract until January at a guess?

Henri Camara probably my favourite player of the above, absolutely loved him for no apparent reason as he was fairly average if I remember rightly!

I liked him. Thought he was a very good player. Problem was he struggled fitness wise. He'd play a blinder but need resting for the next game because of his tight hamstring.

I think the belter mentioned was the one he scored against Bristol City in a home win on Valentines day.

His debut (I think it was his debut anyway) was the first game I took my lad to. He scored the winner in a 1-0 win over Peterborough at the lane with Mark Bunn saving a George Boyd penalty.

Also remember Camara coming off the bench at Leicester on boxing day and playing a blinder almost pulling it back after an awful first half saw us 2-0 down.

Was there any update from CW in his post match interview as to whether any negotiations are taking place with either of the trialists?

I think i recall reading somewhere they will both be playing for the U23s next week.

Brown probabley a non starter but Burke could come good. Bet there's several lower league scouts watching

Wilder said in his interview about these two that we still want another wide player and that we're a bit short on cover for Freeman at RB - that suggests he sees Brown as a cover RB above all else for now. He might primarily be a CB but if he's only coming in as back up it's not that important - and there's the bonus of having a potentially good CB if Wilder rates him. He's only 24 so there's potentially plenty of improvement left in him. Might be a good low risk signing on low wages, we'll see.

I believe Brown can also play in midfield if required. If he's up to it ability wise and fit then his versatility would be useful.

Bit like Basham then. Would rather see a strong MFer as a priority leaving Basham as cover.

Not shown a lot so far, in fact barely touched ball 2nd half.

Should add, they're getting hammered - 4-1 currently. None of defence except maybe Semple decent enough.

He's come more into it last 10 mins and put 3 really good deliveries in. Certainly lacking a bit of pace but still creates a yard.

Him, Brooks and Whiteman looked alright, rest pretty shite tbh.

Now 5-1

5-1? Wow we are not usually anything like this?

A very young defence, but they've all done well before. Individual mistakes, or poorly organised?

Bit of both mate, Cummings is very naive and positioning is not there. Full backs offered little protection and didn't play as a unit particularly well. Cut to shreds truth be told.

How does Lavery look?

I missed the first half hour or so but he played about 65 minutes. Certainly looked to be lacking a bit of match sharpness but worked hard as expected. Wouldn't be too surprised if he's not involved again this weekend.

Bloody Hell - trialing and getting hammered 5-1 at home

Did they walk them to the bus stop?

Applaud Wilder on this. It would have been easy to take him on reputation alone, but if he's not looking up to it then credit where it's due. Maybe this creates an ideal opportunity for young Brooks to up his game.

Regarding Freeman, I still think the best competition for him and for the squad is for us to get a rival for Basham and for Basham to then need to compete with Freeman as well as another middy. I see more value in this than getting Brown though he may be outstanding.

For Basham, I can appreciate he likes to have a preferred spot but his flexibility is also his ace card. If he was competing for just one slot then he would have enjoyed only half the appearances he has with us. Curse and a blessing for his really, his versatility.

Talking of Basham, wonder how his injury is?

Didn't he go off with a knee problem at Wombles?

Bloody hell Burkey, how have you managed not to win a contract at a L1 club? You were going to be my avatar and everything.

Well, the 5-1 defeat against Cov doubtless increased the distance from the first team for quite a few...

Givemallarun...

He really didn't do anything in that game to consider giving him a deal. I'm not sure he's agile/quick enough to fit into our system, he would've made a useful impact sub and that would be about it - and we're not really in a position to have too many of those types.
