What the hell has the prince contributed to so far ? If we cant land our targets due to money, Wilder needs to call the board out over it. He won't take shit from them if hes been promised it, the board have to back him all the way.

I think he stumped up for the Marbella yacht.

They're not cheap.

McCabe has been the saviour of Sheffield United and so say all of us.

Yes, if only we'd had SISU or the Brighton bloke who sold their ground and left them homeless.

Or Celino/Ken Bates banging the prices up >£40 per match.

Or the Blackpool lot who took the massive profit made in the Prem and paid it to themselves.

Or Venkys with even worse managerial appointments than us.

I think that most would agree that we need a central defender, a box to box midfield player, and probably another striking option. Some on here seem to be worried that nothing more is going to happen before Aug 31. I imagine that, at the moment, while CW is calm and serene in his public persona, like a duck gliding through the water, there will be frenetic activity behind the scenes. There will be smoke and mirrors, red herrings, disinformation, leaks, and denials, in the murky world of agents, finance and transfer dealings. However, I feel sure that there will be beneficial incomings and outgoings in the next ten days, which might calm the nerves of a few on here.

It is never actually 'discussed' in any kind of sensible way though, is it?

The "where's the money gone" brigade refuse to believe that losing £5m a season 'uses' any money. This is somehow McCabe's 'problem'. Don't forget that after the 'game changing' comments in 2013, it took us another 3 years to get out of L1 and more good money was spunked.
They also want any money to be spent on transfers and completely ignore the much larger wages that then need to be paid.

The existing staff will all have had contractual promotion bonuses and many may now have higher wages. This could have cost the club anything between £500k to £2m, but again it is not 'real money' is it?

It's not 'interesting' though is it? It is my tedious and predictable response to the simpletons who want other people to spend large sums of their own money, but only ever accept spending on transfer fees. Anything else just doesn't count.

We're discussing it sensibly now aren't we?

The 'game changing' investment comments were initially made by McCabe in 2013, the 'wait till the Championship' comments were made in 2016 when Adkins was in charge and there were rumours of a 'falling out' between the Prince and McCabe and it looked like we no hope in hell's chance of reaching the Championship any time soon.

Yes. Money has been 'spunked away' on daft contracts, paying people up and running costs.

This doesn't alter the fact that McCabe stated 'game changing' investment from the Prince would happen upon promotion to the Championship.

Now we could argue on what is and what isn't 'game changing investment' and increased cost's relative to increased income, but from where I'm looking at the moment I'd say we've not seen, what I and many other Blades, would call 'game changing investment'. ( not relative to the league we find ourselves in in 2017)

We've got a good manager and some good players who play as a team..with a fair wind and a few key buys there's nothing to say we couldn't be pushing round the top ten of this league...with bad luck and injuries we could be fighting to stay up.

P.S- I and many others find the running of the club very interesting.

UTB!

Honestly Chicken Licken, It is not even worth even trying to have a discussion with you. If it does not end in McCabe fucking the club up the arse, on purpose, and wasting money, on purpose, then you are not interested.

Starts an argument based on nothing.
People say where's your evidence?
Counters, where's your evidence?
And on...

It's Sel Baki's CV all over again ;)

So much nonsense. So little knowledge. So little commitment. So little affinity. So little belief. So little memories. So little support. So little minds. So much hot air.

So many attempts to radicalise good fans.

I'm a fan and I love my club, but, basically I'm just a paying customer and as a paying customer I ask. my self was I getting value for money before Mr Wilder arrived and the answer is not often, since he's been here defiantly and at a reasonable price compared to some. So I just don't understand why on earth some people feel the need to forever complain about things they obviously know nothing about. If it ain't broke why fix it ?

Yup. There's another doozie. Certainly made an impact, didn't he?

What's the budget you mentioned early on in the thread?

Hang on. You have all the answers, don't you? I have asked for them, you have come up with nothing.

So much for nonsense, knowledge and hot air. We ask questions, you claim to know the answers, we ask the answers, you don't say anything.

Right now I am feeling dead bullied on this subject and might rooer.

Has anything substantial been said about 'sell on money'? At all. By anyone?

Its an assumption touted on here, by us, isn't it? In truth, if I were McCabe, I'd be saying nowt about it either. Not because 'its going in his skyrocket' (as said, I don't think McCabe or ever was crooked) but because if it is 'real', then it's possibly reinvested sorting out other financial aspects of the club. No one has detailed if it is available, how it is paid, over how long, and how much is available to Wilder for team reinforcement. We al assume Walker = £56m therefore us = £5.6m and Maguire - £16m therefore us = £1.6m. Straight away. Cheques in the post. I don't think it is ever that cut-and-dried.

I doubt it is none of the above. I'd be surprised if we get owt, both in sell-on agreements or team strengthening money.

McCabe was interviewed by RS and was asked what would happen to the sell on money windfall - would it be available to CW for new players ?
His response was "what do you think" which the interviewer took to mean "yes" but for me it wasnta categoric agreement !!

He doesn't know. He forgot to ask McCabe at the forum. He was busy worshipping, you see.

Easy mistake. Move on. Nothing to see.

Well, lets ask WWF for some clarification on that.

Hey, WWF. What does McCabe mean by 'what do you think?'

I don't want a box to box midfielder personally. I think we've got loads of players who are very good at going from box to box. Our problem is they don't know what to do when they get there. Bring in a couple of "in box" players please - one at each end - to keep them out and stick them in . That's all.

I admire your efforts - I try too, and a few others.

It's a complete waste of time with some - but well done for trying again.

Great post Kev.

So, let's all accept the Pomps position which I think is:

1. McCabe is a disingenuous snake oil salesman expert in the use of smoke and mirrors.
2. As a result whatever he says cannot be believed or trusted.
3. On one particular matter, being the game changing investment, as a result of 1 and 2 above it never existed or if it did, it was investment but less than what we as supporters might term game changing.

OK. Let's say I accept that. But what could have been the motive for such an alleged untruth? To somehow keep power? He already has it and I don't see the massed ranks of the South Stand Casuals and Westfield Ultras waving pitchforks in the car park trying to oust him in a fans take over. To look good? To somehow increase his Bigger Blade quotient? Can't see it myself, but if that is all you have to complain about, some bloke bigging himself up by bullshitting then gerralife.

If there is no money, where does beating the owners get you or us?

Or is it something else? Is it that it there was money but it has been spent unwisely, wrongly or been misappropriated? What precisely is the complaint and if there is one what do you think will occur if you just keep banging on about it?

Maybe he just feels very, very angry about ALL of the above and wants the rest of us to feel his anger too?

Would agree with the "in box" point, but a tall, strong, pacy midfield player with skill and stamina wouldn`t go amiss.
