I'm sorry but he just wasn't.

Let's not rewrite history.

He had one good match on Sky against Wednesday and then scored a winning goal at Elland Road shortly after.

Apart from that he did fuck all. He was absent with an injury for three months of the season.

The average football fan who didn't watch the derby at Hillsborough wouldn't have a clue who he was.

Yeah but what young player doesn't have shit games, doesn't mean you're not an exciting prospect, look at Frank Lampard's Derby County, one day all you hear is Mount, Wilson etc beating Man U, then they lose to Notlob. Sure plenty of opposition fans thought he was one to watch in Roy's view froms.

Either way, even if you don't think he was exciting, he certainly wasn't an unknown quantity unearthed by Eddie Howe, that's my main point.

I work with fans from a range of clubs from Stoke to villa, Celtic to Leeds and many of them had views on Brooks. generally, highly rated in my experience

On a related note what happened with Simon Francis at United? Was he given a fair chance or has he developed massively since? Really struggling to remember him but thinking he was too young for things.

Glandular fever and never really kicked on/got over it.

Ironically enough.

We’ll buy him back next summer. We’ve only let him go to the Prem to get him fully fit for our season in the Prem next year. He’s just having an extended full pre-season season with Bournemouth because he wasn’t fit enough.

Highly rated based on their many appearances at the Lane or away days....

Or just youtube highlights?

He was pretty average.

Played X accosted by drunk Fan of former club in bar.

Fan: Did you really fucking want to go mate? Thought you were a fucking Blade pal
Player: No, I loved the club and they forced me out.
Fan: I love you mate.

They’d “tell you owt” in that situation and so would you in their shoes.

You are welcome to your opinion.

Wilder categorically said in the aftermath that he thought Brooks made the wrong decision, should have stayed, and that once he’d indicated he wanted to go it was all about getting the best deal we could for the club. You’re suggesting Wilder was in fact lying?

Wilder publicly stated a few times he wanted him to stay another year. If you'd said MaCabe suggested the change of agent, I might have believed you.

I’m only going on the conversations I had with David’s mum following his move. Obviously your information is from a better source, my apologies.

That's a nice quote !!!
Brooks is a great player , and I for one miss watching him , just our luck he gets glandular fever with us !!
I am really pleased for him , another great player that's gone just like Big Harry , dominating the game for Leicester on Sat .
Well-done David at least you sent the 10,000 wild in the stadium !!

Strange. Everything we’ve heard from Wilder is that he wanted to go. His change of agents seemed to suggest the same also

Is ‘strange’ a euphemism for attention-seeking bollocks?

Yes, our manager is a better source than a parent telling someone what they want to hear.

The notion that he didn’t want to earn a relative fortune in the Prem is the height of nonsense and believing it the epitome of naivety.

His greedy leech made sure he was going and that’s precisely what David was up for, not staying.

Both were hell-bent on going. Sunburn and glandular fever. Quite a combination.

The glandular fever may indeed be just our luck in that Bournemouth didn’t fully understand how debilitating it can be? Time will tell.

Personally, I’ve not noticed his absence.

Indeed - not convinced there is a single fan on here who would say with totally honesty that Brooksy would have played every game for us.

It's interesting that Bournemouth are using him the way we never did - he fits into how they play the game which is different to how CW & AK want to play (at present)

Thanks for the memories, but we are doing ok without him.
