Looks like Man Utd are eyeing up a move for Brooks, apparently putting together an offer over £40m!, hope this happens for him and us, as I'm guessing we will have a nice sell on clause on him???

Well, he's a Newton Heath fan from Warrington, and Solskjaer was talking him up after his recent performance against his side so the paper speculation would seem accurate. Spurs must regret not taking him in the summer now. I don't want it to happen now, however, as 40 million will seem like pocket change soon. I'd much rather he has another 6-18 months of exposure, then the really big bids will come in and the Blades will benefit accordingly (providing he doesn't sustain a serious injury).

Don’t want him to move on deadline day as the sell on fee would be reinvested into running costs by the time the summer window came along

He was on here only last week telling us how his cousin wasn’t doing anything wrong by playing with his cock in public.

Misinterpreting the facts somewhat. It was his brother, and he was getting changed in his car when the urge came to flush the custard

Do we?

Does anyone know for sure?

I would hope so too. I wasn't in favour of selling Brooks because, as I posted on here, his fee would be worth several times more if we could hang onto him a bit longer.

I realise we had no choice in the end, but £11M wasn't a lot of money for a kid of that talent. I can well see him moving to Man U for 4 or 5 times that money - and if we get a cut of that then great! But I'd rather be Bournemouth than Sheffield United in that situation. Just think of the profit Bournemouth are going to make on him!

Without wishing to pick at old scabs, I’m not 100% convinced by the whole storey. DB’s settled well since joining Bournemouth, better than I thought he would, but a £40m price tag is a big step up for him and sounds more like Agents talk to get him a pay rise. Plus both the clubs mentioned have not need for him currently as a 1st teamer, so would be a big out lay for a sub.

Brother?

Parked on a public highway. After he’d driven around looking for somewhere”suitable” no doubt.

A sad story indeed.

There's been big talk about his abiities all season. I was one of the most sanguine about his hopes of making it to the elite of the game, on this board, but he's even exceeded my expectations. I thought this would be his bedding in season and next season or the following summer would be the one where he joins a Champions League team. I think it's a case of: would that figure be enough to tempt Bournemouth (probably not) and, if not, are clubs really prepared to go to town and pay 60-100million (probably not at this stage). From a Blades perspective - we want him to go at peak valuation. I think his value will appreciate from 40 million, but there's certainly a contrary argument.

It's easy to knock Utd over the Brooks sale but tbh the club eventually receiving close to £20m for someone that played half a season in the Champ is a good return. Of course, in an ideal world Utd wouldn't have sold him but the proceeds enabled much needed rebuilding through the signing of Egan as well as the Henderson and Madine loans and contributed to Norwood's fee - a larger scale version of reinvestment CW did following Adams' sale.

Hey up stupid man, guessing you didn't see the existing thread about 3 spaces down the page then?

Do you think if we had not sold him in the summer, that he would be a first team regular with us this season, or used as an impact sub?

It's hard to deduce due to the sea change the Brooks sale made in the capacity of the manager to reinforce last seasons approach (although we couldn't get the likes of Waghorn and Freeman over the line on permanent deals). A cheap way of remaining competitive, without splashing out on the multi million pound strikers (if Brooks didn't leave) would've been to go 4-3-3/4-5-1. Our recruitment drive would've had to change due to the lack of the Brooks money; so, yes, I see a strong possibility that Brooks would've started most games in some capacity. Brooks would've played in one of the wide positions, or off a central striker, or given Duffy competition in our current set up. He's played all three positions for Bournemouth this season, and even a deeper role as playmaker. We saw the tactical flexibility a player like Brooks gave us at times last season, and probably would've seen it more this season imo. The likes of Woodburn, Dowell, Washington, Mcgoldrick wouldn't have been necessary signings if Brooks had stayed at United, imo .
Disclaimer: I think we can accept that our transfer budget was wholly dependent on player sales, given our summer and January maneuverings.

He wouldn't be worth whatever Man U are willing to pay Bournemouth if he'd stayed here, his value has risen because he has the Premiership experience and been proven to be able to play well there.

Don't forget that he wanted to leave, or his agent wanted him to and convinced him.

If we end up with £15m, £18m or £20m we've done well, very well

You can only judge a transfer done at the time because no one has hindsight.
It’s a bit like Bournmouth demanding 100 million from Man Utd using the logic that in 5 years time after playing Champions League and international football he could be worth 200 million, so they’ve made a 100 million profit.

The 12 million transfer at the time was a great deal for the buyer, the seller and the player. Everyone was a winner.
If he was still here still think he’d be mainly sub and suspect our team would now be weaker and we’d be lower down the table

Bournmouth use wingers, we don’t, so Brooks was always likely to get a better chance to impress there than under Wilder.

We have Norwood who everyone thinks is fantastic but at Fulham last season he was mainly sub and deemed not quite good enough for their team. It’s all about how a player is used. We use Norwood better than Fulham in a position that suits him. Bournmouth use Brooks better than what we did and he also has better players around him, so it’s not a like for like comparison.

Don't see anyone paying £40 million at this stage but then again football is a fucking stupid business drowning in idiots with more money than sense.

I'll ask you to revise that opinion when you read the statement below.

This is a team that reportedly paid £75m for Lukaku.

Sell on clause feckin Santa Clause re like.

They'll be a clause in any sale saying Wilder will see about ask much of the money as we did for the Kyles, aharry, Brooke's et al
